VIDEO SHUTS OFF, AUDIO STAYS ON . TURN TV OFF FOR SEVERAL
HOURS AND TV IS OK. THE PROBLEM COMES BACK AFTER SEVERAL HOURS AND SOMETIMES SEVERAL WEEKS. WHAT FIX DO YOU RECOMMEND.
If you know anything about the tv, take off the back and remove the power supply board. Reflow or resolder the solder points, takes like 2 hours, but is well worth it as my tv works fine now. make sure to use rosin core solder and good luck

You may need the power supply board resoldered as I had the same problem. The guy listed below can do it for you as I shipped mine from Illinois to him in California... Piece of cake getting the board out of the back and it's not too fraigile... Just pack in bubble wrap and it will be fine. My TV is now working great.
BUT DON'T DELAY AS SOONER LATER TV WILL NOT RESTART..
Boards can run 250 - 400.00 on average. You may be better off just repairing the board parts for around 65.00

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.
TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
I agree that it is the power supply board. I had a problem with my Phillips 42 in. HDTV. It would not turn on at all.
I opened it up and found several bad capacitors. I removed the bad ones and replaced them with good ones and its up and running.
My suggestion is to inspect the capacitors on the Power Supply Board. Look for bulged leaking or misshaped capacitors. If you find any replace them or have them replaced. They are very inexpensive. Or just replace the whole board
there are leds inside that will light up @ the moment of shutdown.. one on the power supply lights up with ANY shutdown, but at the exact moment (like when you try to turn on from cold) of shutdown, another will light for a split second. depending on where this other red led is, will tell you which board is bad. I just spend like 10 hours working on a 510hd model so I know it like the back of my hand, let me know if you want to dive in. These tvs are notorious for having bad solder connections all over several board and can be fixed easily by a savvy tech with a solder iron. Let me know
Hey im not one of the techy guys with tv's im a computer guy.
but i have that same pioneer set you have the 510-HD and i had a similar if not the same problem.
my ex-father in law is a tv repair guy he told me to resolder the power board connections that looked corroded. i did just that and problem solved. hope this helps you out
FYI make sure you use rosin core solder not acid core good luck
since your tv is 6yrs old it could be that the video circuit has cold solder that needs to be resolder if that does not work then a focus on the video circuit by replacing the component there, it could be an ic or transistors or diode.if you are not a tech get one to look at your set.good luck.for further help email me at [email protected]
