ive taken it apart and have a doner on hand how easy would it be to switch mb's?

  • kopper Sep 11, 2008

No sign of heat damage though

  • kopper Sep 11, 2008

Think ive narrowed it down, if I unhook the dvd player or hdd the x05 boots if I attach either dvd or hdd green light goes out .....nothing. are we looking at a juice supply here and if so whats the solution?

  • kopper Sep 11, 2008

Unfortunately my battery's empty so I cant see if its a malfunction on the MB so Ill get another power supply and see if that corrects the error. I was just thinking if theres a power regulator built in to the MB that is cutting out the power At off position... without the hdd and dvdplayer the x05 boots with the wireless light and the processor indication lights comming on (this is without the screen pluged in as I had to disconnect it to get into the motherboard ) so cant see any messages from the bios OS etc WATCH THIS SPACE back in a few days.

Sounds as if you have a motherboard problem. If you are not comfortable in taking the bottom half of the case to see if that "crackaling noise" was.. then you can send it into samsung for repairs and estimate. If you are comfortable, first put your nose near a heat vent and see if it smells funny, like a little bit burnt. if so, its a gonner. You can look around once you remove the bottom pannals for burn residue or any signs of problems and report back if you need further assistance

Try removing the hardrive and boot up, mabye it died and is causing a short now.

Mother board replacement isnt difficult, but you need to be VERY exact on when you remove things, and replace them to connect everything thing and anything back to where it was, and to buy the exact replacement.

If you have a ohms - volts meter test your power supply on the end that connects to the mother board to see if its the problem.

Try removing your hard drive and see if it will stay on

    try another power cord.

and if all else fails and you love the laptop,

search ebay or a local laptop parts store for a new or used mb

When i work on things like this, i take photos and notes along the way so i can reference where things went. Digital cameras and a note book have made my job so much easier,

good luck and comment back if you need more help

You cannot plug in the hardrive while the system is on, it takes it as a power serge and shuts down, but with both out can you get to your o/s menu?

if so *********** board is okay, it could be a short on the power supply or on the reciving end of either the hdd or dvd drive,,

i would narrow it down to the hdd or power supply..

If it goes to the o.s menu and will turn on with these two items off of the pc, then your hdd is malfunctioning and has caused your computer to constantly restart due to its faluire.. a new hdd will fix your problem

Pc code is saying there was a momentary power loss. Try resetting the control panel by depressing power frig and power freeze for more than 8 seconds. You may have to unplug the unit for 20 minutes if the compressor it very hot and not starting. You may have to depress power frig and power freeze to reset the units control panel to restart the compressor after the 20 min let the cooling system stabilize period.
If after all of this you still have issues with the lights or the unit is not working properly just repsond here and we will help you.

TV made a big popping sound, and then a crackling

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php That crackling sound could be of the color wheel:The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is BP9601073A you can find original here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-01073A-lamp-p/samsung-bp96-01073a-lamp-oem.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!

Speakers crackle, then sporadically stop

Sounds like an amplifer fault. Many of these Midi system use a large black IC attached to a metal heatsink. They control both the power amp and pre amp on both channels. When they go wrong they can cause all sorts of effects,
If you can repair things I would look at that. If not get ready for a large bill. If it's the IC some are expensive, it does most of the work!

How to remove the back off my smasung x05 laptop

You are looking at a real job here. The socket is soldered to the motherboard. You will have to completely disassemble the laptop and de-solder the DC socket and re-solder it. Not a job for the faint of heart, not to mention someone without real soldering skill.
I can't tell you the actual steps, but you'll have to unscrew the screws in the bottom of the case, remove the bezel that covers the display hinges, remove the keyboard, display, the palm rest, and then remove the motherboard.
FYI, the palm rest is held to the base by little plastic catches--so you have to be really careful when using a screwdriver to separate the two plastic pieces.

Samsung X05, 40 GB, 512 ram, problem-there is no power supply

plug in power cable and press power button ...wait a minute or so to see if theres anything...if nothing press and hold power button for 5 or 6 seconds you should hear some response..now press power as normal to boot ..if this dont do it remove power lead remove battery...insert power lead and try to boot ...if successful when booted up and windows running replace battery and restart(reboot)
I dont think its a bios prob but if all fails remove rtc battery for a minute or so then replace to reset bios and then boot.

Flashing Standby/Stero light and No picture.

How good is your picture when it did come ? Is it as good as it once was ? Or is it alittle washed out. If it is washed out the picture tube is weak . Sometimes turning up the screen control alittle would solve problem but if you turn it up too much you would have faint white line running diagonally. Now if you think the picture was good before you this problem video circuit would be your suspect . Jungle IC or something in the RGB circuits . Good luck
