Question about RCA T13208 13 in. TV/VCR Combo

2 Answers

Vcr non-function The TV part fully functions, using both remote and manual controls but the VCR does not. It almost seems like a breaker is in/out. The record timer is not active. I have un-plugged it several times, in case there is an auto re-set in the system. Any suggestions, before I take it apart, would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Vcr non-function

I think these combos were the wort thing, They used some of the cheapest VCRs that had the most problems in these things. Most are mono 2 head that are just built to bairly function new. Most do have 1 belt and that 1 belts is in the back and has such a load on it that it can bairly drive the mechanisim new to load and unload the unit. Its hard to say what could be the problem because they are so packed in there with the VCR unit cuasing heat and the tv causing heat stuff in them brak down even faster. Good luck taking it apart, they are a pain to work on. Once you get the back off of the tv, the tv wants to almost fold in half. You almost need to people, one to hold the tv up and one to remove the vcr unit. The case is like the frame of the unit and it all holds itself together. Before you take it apart, try and turn the unit upside down and shake it. I know that sounds like a pain but there could be somthing in it jamming the mechanism. Try some easy stuff firt.

Re: Vcr non-function

Theres no reset as I know but I only had a couple of these types of RCA and both had tv problems.. In todays VCR's there are no belts to replace or go bad. Mostly all nylon gears and plasic chassis. Most of the faults that lie with todays VCR's are bad Capstan motors ,defective tape loading carriages, defective mode switchs or sometimes even bad cylinder motors. If any of the gears break or cracks it will completely throw the unis mechaism out of alighnment and you will need to know from the manual where to set every gear ,lever and switch or it will never work.. Thats why most VCR;'s today are throwaway as you have to buy a service manual spoend time finding out why the mechanism dosent work and then buy the parts to correct the fualt. Good Luck to ya and heres a # you can call if you do decide to take the unit in for service by an RCA guy..,,,00.html

Acessing Menu with universal remote

We used a One4All model URC3021BOO remote. We programmed BOTH the TV function and the DVD/vcr button with code 0807.  To access the menu PRESS TV then MENU button then DVD/VCR button will allow you to change menu functions using left and right and select buttons. *TV button will access Menu screen BUT NO menu functions. * DVD/VCR button will NOT access menu screen but WILL control menu functions if menu is already displayed. May work with other sharp products, or other universal remotes? These original (RRMCG1330PESA) remotes run 38.00+ to buy new so try this FIRST!

Some universal remotes will not program for combo devices using the TV code. You might try using the VCR code and see if it takes. Some operating functions might not work.

Quasar 13" tv/vcr combo

Standard universal remotes rarely work well with combination devices. Try programming the TV part in the TV mode and the VCR functions in the VCR mode. If this doesn't work you may be out of luck unless you get a logitech harmony remote. You might be able to find one on ebay for about $50. Depending on the model the usually run $150 - $1000. These remotes need to be set up with a computer but the program is pretty strait forward. This is the only remote that I can guarentee will work.

No remote specific to Sharp combo to turn off closed captionning

on some models the menu button is on the front disguised as the volume up/down or channel up/down buttons. you have to push both up/down buttons on either one of these to bring up the menu.

Remote code for PV-M1349

The secret is that the VCR code turns the set on/off and the TV code controlls the volume...try this:

Program the Verizon remote AUX button using the panasonic VCR codes until it turns the set on/off, program the remote for TV using the panasonic TV codes until it controls volume, then program the STB button to control all 3... STB, TV, and AUX. If you are missing any VCR or TV funtions try another respective panasonic code until all functions are available.

Panasonic VCR codes are 1089, 0062, 0189, 0252, 0643, 1062.
Panasonic TV codes are 0277, 0078, 0677, 1437.

To figure this out, I had to use the "what if none of the codes worked" section and figured I'd try the VCR codes since the TV codes would not turn it on/off.

Good Luck!

How can I turn to AV without a remote control (Samsung TV/VCR 19in Combo)

I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.98fe8a9.jpg
