Question about Frigidaire FMV157GM Microwave Oven

Frigidaire Microwave FMV157GC

We have an intermittent problem: we close the door and turn it on (manual or automatic). The countdown works, but the oven does not work. We always eventually get it to work by opening the door and hitting the buttons several times, but have never figured out what causes this problem. It only happens in the mornings (after the oven has not been used for some time).

i was heating a cup of water when i realized after about 2 minutes the microwave was silent. the countdown contiuned and the light was on but the microwave wasn't making a sound. my microwave is above my range and when i was inspecting the microwave i noticed some warping to the plastic at the bottom of the door. It's been this way since we moved here but could that be the problem?

I had the problem where the timer continues to count down but turntable doesn't turn, fan doesn't come on and food doesn't heat. Holding the door up worked for awhile but even that temporary method stopped working.

I bought a door interlock switch the cost $23 from an appliance repair place and replaced it myself. It worked like a charm. To replace the switch, you need to remove 3 screws that hold the plastic grille above the door, which exposes the 1 screw that is holding the control panel. Remove that screw and slide the control panel up to remove it. There are three switches left of the panel. Note the middle swich has a different part number so I'm not sure what that one is called. The bad one on mine happen to be the bottom one. The switch is held on by a "pin" and tab that holds it in place. Push the tab and spin the switch on its "pin" past the tab to remove. Reverse your step to put the new one on. I hope this helps.

Microwave ovens use low voltage at high current to heat Magnetron filament.
Reported fault can be caused by poorly conducting Crimp joints on spade connectors to Magnetron.
Remedy is to solder wire from filament transformer to spade connectors .
Warning DANGER DANGER LEATHAL VOLTAGES
DISCHARGE HV Capacitor and disconnect from power ALWAYS

Microwave plate turner keeps spinning even with door closed and microwave turned off

My microwave is doing this as well; It's a frigidaire model #FGMV154CLFA.

After using the microwave part (it is also convection), the light stays on in the microwave and the turner keeps turning.

And I've only used the convection part of my microwave a couple times and I'm not sure if I was successful. While trying to cook something in convection mode, I pressed convection, then pressed the temp i wanted, then convection, then keyed in the time I wanted the item to cook. The microwave started and the timer started counting down but the countdown stopped with 8 minutes left? I left it alone to see what would happen and it never finished so I restarted the process again.

PS..I've never gotten an error code

I don't know how to replace the charcoal filter on my Frigidaire FMV157GC microwave. There's also food between the grate and the glass on the microwave door. Help !

This is billed as the Use & Care Manual for the Frigidaire FMV156DC Microwave Oven:

ftp://ftp.electrolux-na.com/ProdInfo_PDF/Springfield/316495004en.pdf

Not sure it is the correct one but you will find instruction for cleaning the exhaust filters on page 19.

Below is the Use & Care Manual for a model direct from the Frigidaire site:

http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Springfield/316495057en.pdf

This is more helpful as on page 20 it includes illustrated instructions for removing the charcoal filter to change the oven light. Disconnect from power, remove the ventilation grate at the top to access the charcoal filter, slide back and lift to remove. With the grate removed carry out any required cleaning.

I was boiling water on the electric range beneath my FRIGIDAIRE FMV157GC 1.5 Cu. Ft. Microwave Oven when there was a loud snapping/popping noise occured. I immediately shut off the microwave and thought...

Hi,

I would say the transformer for the power supply has probably shorted, or another major component in the power supply has shorted - This may be repairable if easily spotted, but most likely will not be cost efective.
