Low pressure oil light comes on after about 10 minutes of starting out after engine has cooled. It starts flashing then stays on. After driving about thirty minutes the engine does start to clatter some. I recently had trouble with my thermostat. Afraid there is damage from that.No loss in oil. Thanks Debe
Do a manual oil pressure test with an oil pressure tester you should have no less than 20 Lbs oil pressure at any time good is 40+ anything less than 20 and noisy engine is bad
You need to have someone check the oil pressure to see if it is actually losing pressure or if sending unit is going bad. this is done with a mechanical gauge. Or you can just replace sending unit this is about a $20 part so cheap enough to just try. If you are actually losing pressure then you have scored bearings on the crank shaft. If not too bad can replace main bearings and a new oil pump.

Check oil pressure with a gauge. The sender is electronic and could be the issue. Also oil filter could have a bad check valve. Change the oil filter, oil and sender. If the problem is still there you have worn engine bearings and major issues are coming your way.
The oil light is supposed to come on when there is low oil pressure, so when the car starts, the pressure goes from 0 to whatever (25-60psi depending on the engine). As a result, the light stays on for a few seconds at the beginning of the start cycle and is then supposed to go out. If the low oil pressure light remains on, then you either have low oil pressure or you have a sensor problem. If you have low oil pressure, you may need a new oil filter. If the filter was just replaced, then you need to get professional help because low oil pressure will wreck your engine in a hurry. Your engine's oil pump may be faulty and need to be replaced.
I had the same problem after 5 months of purchasing a 2011 Edge. The Oil Engine Pressure light comes on and stays on after driving 10 minutes and stopping for gas- it turns off shortly after I start driving again. I had a 2007 Edge as well and never had this problem. I just took the 2011 Edge back to the dealer. They could not duplicate the problem and instead reset all computer settings. The next day the same Oil Engine Pressure light came back on. Anyone out there with any suggestions?
No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty
probably low on freon R134A. Buy a can with a gauge on it. Addd to the low pressure port in engine compartment on passenger side, low pressure hose. If the compressor starts working, then you are low. Do not overfill or you will damage compressor. The gauge should have a "good" zone on it, stay in the god zone. If it starts cycling very fast, it is still low.
It should cycle 4 to 7 times/minute at 70 degrees F.
