Unlocking Verizon VX9900 for use on other networks
Of course the phone doesn't have GSM or SIM. I need to see if my phone can work on a Cingular network when I get back to the States in a couple of weeks. Can the VX phone be programed to work on my Cingular account?

Hello. You can definitely unlock your T-mobile network locked Samsung Galaxy Exhibit using unique unlock code. You can get the unique unlock code for your Samsung Galaxy Exhibit from Mobile-Unlocker.com at affordable cost with an easy unlocking guide. But you can unlock a GSM network locked phone to use any other GSM network SIM card only. Verizon is CDMA network provider. You cannot use it with the unlocked phone.
You can unlock your LG phone using an online unlocking services. But only if your Verizon LG is a dual GSM/CDMA phone it can be unlocked to work with GSM sim cards.Try this LG unlocking service, ask their support if they have the unlocking code for your phone and IMEI and then purchase it in order to unlock your phone. Here you have some instructions for unlocking dual GSM/CDMA phones. I think it will help understand the process.
In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA). Cellular carriers including Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless, Verizon and T-Mobile use one or the other. Understanding the difference between GSM and CDMA will allow you to choose a carrier that uses the preferable network technology for your needs.
Before you start, you MUST have an

Sim Card that is NOT belong

will said "MEP check failed. Do you want to
enter MEP unlock code". Select Yes. 3. "Enter
Network MEP code (# left)". Enter the unlock code. 4. Press
Enter, you should see “Code Accepted” 5. You
need to check Network Connection is set on GSM/UMTS. Menu>Manage
Connection>Mobile Network Options and make sure it GSM/UMTS. 6. Once
GSM/UMTS is selected. You can now ready to make phone call. Notice:
If the network not working after your phone is fully charged and
process “Code Accepted”. You must change
Verizon CDMA network to GSM Global Network a few times, after change
Verizon CDMA to GSM Global 3 times is completed, leaves it on GSM Global
Network. Now it should work. (Verizon 8830 World Edition DOES NOT work
To unlock a GSM phone, request the access code from the service provider. Unlock codes are provided for phones exclusive to certain carriers, such as the G1 for T-Mobile or the iPhone for Cingular. A charge may be applied for the unlock code.
Unlock codes can also be generated online through websites such as freeyourcellphone.com. The website simply asks for the IMEI code from the back of the phone, located under the battery, the model of the phone and the current service provider to generate an unlock code.
Once you have the code, remove your battery and sim card. Place your battery back into the phone and turn it on. The phone will state "insert SIM." Enter the code exactly as it was given to you.
Once you enter the code, hit the call button. A prompt will pop up stating that the restriction has been lifted or that the phone lock has been removed. Both messages indicate that the phone is now unlocked.
Now that the phone is unlocked, a new sim card can be placed into the phone. The new service provider must also work off a GSM network in order for the phone to work.
Unlocking a cell phone is legal, but it will void the warranty of the handset. Phones also have a built-in number of unlock attempts allowed.
While a Blackberry Storm will recognize an overseas GSM SIM card (such as Vodaphone) while traveling abroad, and will operate on the GSM band there, it will not recognize a US GSM SIM, such as those used by Cingular and T-mobile. The SOS on the screen signifies that the phone is not currently registered on the CDMA network (likely Verizon or Sprint) and that it can only make 911 calls as required by the FCC.
