Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

Lens distorded My view is blurred and jagged appearing. When taking the picture anyway, it comes out the same, and but a little hour glass thing comes in view and empties and then it reads card is full, after taking only one picture. What in the world could be causing this. I recently bought a new battery. It is fully charged. I hope I didn't ruin my camera with this off brand battery. Actuall I put the old one in to see if it did the same thing and it does. How ever you can help, I would appreciate it. Fran

There should be a format in the camera to format the card. Most usualy come with the smallest size memory cards available. 16 megs should hold a few images i would think even with your camera. If the camera will not focus it could be the lenses are stuck or your not giving it time to auto focus. Most camera have 2 points on the shutter button. Halfway will focus on the subject, then all the way will take the picture. WHen you push it halfway you should hear it trying to focus or beep. Then its ready and focused. Does the camera have a manual mode? manual mode is a setting for advanced useres, its usualyindicated with an "M" this mode leaves the camera settings totaly up to the user and may include manual focus. Thats a nice camera, there is a button on the side of the lens that says "MF" does the display say "MF" on the screen when your trying to shoot?

EOS 1v viewfinder is black and shutter glass is half way closed

There could be something stuck (grains of sand, grit, etc...) in the lens mechanism. Try googling "How to fix stuck lens digital camera". If that doesn't work, try altering the search.
Hope I helped!

Lens blurred

To come closer to the colprit, if you shoot a picture and you put it on a PC (tablet) does the picture still look blurred?
If it does, the most likely is the image sensor or the lens are broke. If the picture is ok on the PC, only the display is bad.
Are you sure you don't see anything on the lens? Is perhaps a little dent on the outside visable? That could be caused by a fall with the lens outside the body.

My lens is all blurry

Question is, Is your lens blurred,or are all your pictures blurred?
If you can see the front of the lens is really dirty, you could try to clean it with a lens pen. One side has a soft brush to remove the dust and perhaps other debris. Please try to remove debris with a little presuerd air. If only smear is left on the lens, you than can use the other end of a lens pen. It has a very soct pad, with wich you than can remeove smear.
If the lens looks ok, please don't touch it.
Perhaps you don't take enough time to let the camera focus on the subject.
When making a picture, press the shutter release button half, till he AE/AF indicater flashes and you hear a beep, then you can press down and make the picture.
If you are making pictures without a steady hand, pictures also can come out blurred. Special when there is little light avalible.
Then choise a higher ISO.
I hope this helps. You still can fine the manual online.

Hello, I have fuji finepix F50fd camera. It suddenly takes blurred pictures. The lens is clean and there are no messages on the screen. Can't remeber dropping it or damaging it in any way. Regards, Sofia

Welcome to FixYa.

There are three reasons why do you get a blurred images.

1. The camera lens is dirty
- clean the lens with soft and dry cloth
2. AF frame (lit red) and !AF appeared when taking pictures.
- check the focus on the subject and take pictures
3. A small camera icon appeared when taking pictures
- It may cause camera shae. Hold the camera steadily.Use flash photography. A tripod may be recommended, depending on the scene and mode.

Feel free to send us comments or suggestions if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Power error message

I followed the advice of the other posts, about the lens just being stuck. I tried the tweeze and blow, and the gentle turning methods. Neither did the trick. I went to the "pull the thing out, if it breaks, well it wasn't working anyway" method, and voila! Okay, so I broke a little piece of the lens sliding lens cover...but at least I got to take the pictures of my daughter and Cupcake the Teddybear for her school project. Thanks everybody for the help.

Your LCD is only a small preview screen. I have on many occasions tested a camera and viewed on the screen. When you view the image on a computer it is enlarged to a much larger image. If your pictures appear out of focus you may have a bad lens. Set your camera to the highest mega pixel rate and retake some test images. If these are blurred you have a bad lens.

Nikon D40 will not focus

on the right side of the view finder there is a little bar. Make sure it is all the way down. If it is in the up position then it will make the viewfinder, shouldn't make the images blurry though. Also make sure it is in AF not MF (auto focus and manual focus).

Does dust specks inside lens cause blur in the pictures?

If you have a SLR camera you can take your lense off and clean it.. I do not reccoment canned air because if you do not use it the right way liquid will come out. At best buy they have cleaning kits, and in their kit they have a little brush that you can squeeze regular air and brush off anything on the lense or around the lense, If you have a SLR camera you might have a built in cleaning option... SLR means Single Lense Reflex and this means your lense can come off/interchangable..

Lens won't focus

It will be a repair shop job to do properly and will cost - lots So bearing in mind the the mechanism is very delicate and the drop may have wrecked it anyway you have nothing to lose I feel in trying very very gently giving the partially out lens a little tug- you cant break it worse thats for sure Try it--------- Then go buy another camera ;-}
