My acer laptop wont turn in it just acts like there is no batterry in it and no power cord plugged in

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

For laptops, remove the heatsink and apply new thermal paste or the motherboard may need replacing. Leave it to an expert if you are not familiar.

Hope this helps.

Power problems

Hi

Ok what you need to do is take a tester and test the powersupply it self to make shure that you do get power first if you do get power then you will need to take a look at the wires at the conection point where the powersupply plugs into youre laptop, if that all checkes out well then there only 1 thing left... the battery. you can test the battery with the cable tester aswell to c if you do get power.

hope this helpes

It's impossible to say with any certainty without seeing it, but I suspect a bad wire. Often you can tell easily by moving the wire around and see if the light goes on or off. Particularly check where it goes into the power adapter, but also check the cable going from the power brick to the laptop.

It's possible the connector in the power brick is bad, or some other loose connection inside it. You could try one more thing, and that would be unplugging it from the Laptop. If tthe light stays off, it's likely a bad power brick. They are a 'high stress' point. They have to supply a lot of power in a small enclosure, with no fan, and they get beat around a lot. Hopefully it's still under warranty.

Your laptop's power adapter must be the problem, try borrow a power adapter power cord similar voltage rating and connector to your laptop's and test to see if it is the calprit.

Have an MT6451. When I press the power button it will not turn on but the battery indicator light in front of the laptop flashes red every time I press the power button. I should also tell you that it did...

Gateway MT6451 laptop. That was easy but the rest is a guess without more details. It sounds like this computer is not plugged into an outlet or is not getting power from that outlet, and that the battery is dead low. Try plugging something else, like a lamp, into the very same outlet that the laptop is plugged into to make sure it turns on. Not the next plug over on a power strip, but the very same plug. If it doesn't get power either, there's hope. Except that your battery needs a good recharge after the laptop starts getting power.
If the outlet turned out to be good, then the power adapter on your laptop may have failed. At this point you'll need try another power adapter and try again. At this point you may need the help of people who can look at the computer for you, preferably friends with a similiar laptop (and power adapter).
I wish I could help more, but thats a start.

The charger connecting point on my compaq laptop is loose and so the laptop does not alway charge

This is the DC power jack. Some solder points have most likely come undone. If it's in warranty have Compaq fix it for you. If not, you can call around and get the cheapest price you can to fix it. If your handy with a soldering iron and feel comfortable enough to take apart the laptop yourself, we can provide instructions on opening the case. You can purchase a new jack if need be for about $25 - $30. Just remember this most likely the problem. I can't say for sure without looking at it. You may want to take it in to get fixed just be on the safe side. Hope this helped.

Help needed to get power connected.

There are a few possibilities.

If it's been plugged in continuously, the adapter may have simply overheated. Allowing it a few minutes to cool down without being plugged in could possibly fix it. Try unplugging the power cable from both the wall and the laptop for 30 minutes and give it another shot. This might work.

The other, less happy, possibility is that your adapter overheated to a critical point or was struck by an electrical surge and is damaged beyond repair. You can order a new one from a site like eBay or directly from Toshiba. Looks like you could get one from eBay for around 25$US incl. shipping but be careful and make sure you order the right thing.
