The video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQlTpTLUyFQ should get you most of the way there (although you may want to take a little more time and care!) the other videos listed on the right of the page should help you finish of the job.

When you turn on the ds lite the screen just flashes and then turns off

Hi,

The screen that doesn't flash is faulty and will need replacing, i would suggest you do 1 of 3 things:

1) send it in to nintendo if undr warranty.
2) Take it to a local repair place.
3) Replace the screen yourself.

To replace the screen yourself you will need take the console apart. The screens can be brought from vrious sites such as ebay for a reasonable cost.

If you need help to repace the screen click on my name and look at the repair guides i have written.

Nintendo DS bottom screen flashes then dies

Hi,
If both of your screens are flashing, you must be experiencing a bad battery or your system has come into contact with some liquid.

A battery replacement or repair is needed to fix this problem.

DS Screen

If the nintendo has dropped most probably the LCD screen will be broken. If it is broken you can replace it for around € 20.

Bottom screen scrambled on nintendo ds lite

This option is only suitable for out of warranty devices as opening it violates the warranty.

Open the device following this info:
How to dismantle an Original Nintendo DS.

If yours is the NDS Lite, just find this video in youtube:
"Disassembling Nintendo DS Lite"

The bottom screens have 2 wrap wires, one big and visible, that is the screen cable, the other is small and not so obvious and this one is for the touch screen and you dont want to get it broken.

The cable connectors release the cable by lifting ot pulling the brown or black lock and be sure to remember how it was connected so you can know the right position of the cable when connected right not having any problem with loosen cables before you finish.

Good Luck...

Conection?

Here is a guide to dismantle an original Nintendo2.gif DS:

How to dismantle a Nintendo DS.

If yours is the NDS Lite, just find this video2.gif in youtube: "Disassembling Nintendo DS2.gif Lite"

And after opening it you can do your work. Make sure the flexible cables connecting the top screen part of your DS are well in place and not broken. Your problem may be only a loosen cable but in case the cable is broken you gonna need a replacement. Be careful not to damage the screen or other sensitive electronic parts on your device and you will be on your way.

Good Luck...

Nintendo ds to screen broken

Hi, replacing the original nds upper screen is a fairly straight forward procedure, you need to remove the 4 x small plastic plugs located in the corners of upper screen, then remove the 4 x phillips screws, the top outer back part of the case will seperate and you can gain access to the screen. Firstly remove the small screw holding down the right hand pcboard to gain access to the ribbon connectors, release the larger flat connector by hinging the clip up, slide the ribbon out, underneath you will see a tiny connector, gently ease the small clip back towards the ribbon, prising a little each side at a time, remove the ribbon and then you can prise the screen from the case.

Sounds like the screen is broken. It may be fixable, but you're likely better off buying a new DS.
