If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Canon Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find thefile,doubleclick on the file, if you get introubles,then follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall:

  • Unplug USB.
  • Download driver from website and run the file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some device does not work on Vista.

Im guessing your looking for the drivers for your scanner. Copy and paste this link into your web browser it will take you to the download page. If your setting your scanner up I do have a suggestion for you. Unplug the scanner from the computer first. Then download and install the drivers. Then turn your scanner on so its powered up and then plug it into your computer. A window will pop up saying a new device or driver is being installed. After that completes the reboot (restart) your computer and your ready to scan. The link is below that you need for the drivers.

SOURCE: canoscan D646U ex for vista

Using the Windows XP driver MAY work. However, the D646Uex is not officially supported in Windows Vista. There is apparently some functionality limitations that prevent it from being officially compatible.
