First problem is that if you ever have a problem with anything electronic you dont ignore it going on and off or you dont hit it to get it to start working. Thats a true indicator that something is wrong and/or somethings about to break and take everything with it. When it first started to go on and off You could have made sure that the speaker lines were not loose or touching one another or another big problem like this is the speaker wires and how they are ran thru the vehicle sometimes the vibration will rub off the insulation and /or pinch the wire and short it out agains the chassis of the vehicle. The best way for you to trouble shoot this is to first have someone check the speakers and lines. Make sure the inputs are good and disconnect the output lines(speakers wires) from the amp and put a dc meter on one of the outputsw. And have someone turn o0n the power. If theres any dc there for even a spit sec then the amp has blow output devices and probably also bad drivers and predrivers. At this point find out how much your local repair person would charge you for an estamate. or contact Boss at 323.890.3700 ext. 2770 Good Luck

I have a boss rt645 2ch 1400 watt amp would this amp properly push a pair of 12 inch mtx terminators.

That all depends on the wattage of the subs. also the independance of the subs. If your amp is 1400 watt, maximum you want is 2 600watt subs. if your subs are higher you will blow your amp eventually as your amp isnt powerful enough to pump out to that level. You should never have your amp fully turned up to max, 80% is perfect and will not make your amp blow. Hense why you want your subs less than the max output of your amp.

Hi, i would like to know if Boss is a good brand amp for my truck

it is ok. These amps are cheaper and are meant for use with lower quality speakers. So they do work but I would expect alot from it.

Problem with subs and amp

I would first suggest un-hooking the subs, and hooking them up to another known good radio other than the one its hooked to now. Just to make sure you didnt blow the speakers. What is the wattage of the subs? Then if the speakers do work I would hook them up bypassing the amp just to see if the problem exist before or after. Come back after doing this. Thanks

If the amp blows a fuse with no remote voltage applied, the amp has a short in the primary side of the power supply. If the fuse only blows after remote voltage is applied, the amp probably has shorted output transistors.

I recommend you swap your left and right input cables to make sure it's not a source issue.

So from your headunit, plug the left channel output into your amps right input and your right channel output into your amps left input.

If the same side is still not working then disconnect both (or single speaker if it bridged) the speakers from the not working side at the amp. Connect the front and then the rear speakers individually and retest to see if one of them works.

If one does work then check the cabling and speaker connections on the one that doesn't. If it's shorting out anywhere it will stop your amp from powering that channel.

Failing that, it could just be that your amp has partly failed.

Boss 2500d gets hot and trips off and on every 5 mins...

If you are bridging the amp then you must DOUBLE the "ohms load" that is specified. I.E. If you need 4ohms per channel, then when bridged you would need 8ohms per bridged channel. If your load is indeed correct then you have a fried output probably. Try to run it without any speakers on it. If it still gets hot then you for sure have a fried amp. All the symptoms you decribe sound just like you have too much of an "ohms load" though.

Channels Not Playing

i had afriend who is atechnician. his boss amplifier stopped working on one channel,so what he did is openened the amp, tested the mosfet transistors and it showed signs of failure.then he went shopping for same type of mosfet transistors and with no luck in buying the right type, he put the amp away for acouple of weeks. then one day he hooked it up and strangely it worked again. he told me that while it was hooked up itwent into protection mode and for some reason it worked later. so i would not open it because of static discharge i would disconnect the amp for maybe acouple of weeks then hook it back up.... its worth a try & good luck
