Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook
Lost my Wifi connections and sounds. Originally Window Home Vista. Now, converted to XP. I dont have a driver.
I just had the same problem today and fixed it with HP tech support. This is the instruction from them: at bootup, hit F10 to go into BIOS mode. At the BIOS screen, hit F9 which loads the factory default setup. Exit and Save. They asked me to reload the Broadcom driver and Nvidia driver but I didn't have to. Mine was a F700 running windows Vista. Good luck.

I was so irritated with this problem until I figured out the way solve it, all the steps with reloading the drivers and the -F9-F10 on boot up- procedure worked once, then again I had the same dilemma. RESTORE TO FACTORY DEFAULT-then system restore to keep files. Automatically it should reload all the drivers ect... Create restore point first tho.

You have to restore your system. if your system can be restored without disks, click start----programs----recovery manager------advanced options------hardware driver installation-----select broadcom lan driver vista
restart your computer then you're good to go
if you have xp, I am sure the process is similiar.

I HAD the same problem. I says that your driver for your network card is not installed or did not start correctly at start up. If you want to get rid of this problem, go to system restore. and go back a few dates. the problem is that you driver tried updating but timed out during the update. so simply go back a few days and your problem is salved.
The Compaq Pre. F700 is a good laptop. but for your problem willy, all you have to do is update your 6401A driver to a new version compatible with Windows XP. I use my F700 for storage and media. i have an ASUS G71gx-rx05. my gaming laptop.
