My screen cracked on my leapPad 2. any ideas on how to get it fixed?

LIMITED HARDWARE WARRANTY AND LIABILITY
LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. ("LeapFrog") warrants to the original purchaser that the hardware shall be free from material defects in material and workmanship for a period of (i) three (3) months from the original purchase date for hardware other than LeapPad tablets; and (ii) one (1) year from the original date of purchase for LeapPad tablets (each period is a "Warranty Period").
If the product is determined to be materially defective during the Warranty Period, your sole remedy and LeapFrog's sole and exclusive liability under this warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of the product with a new or refurbished product at LeapFrog's option. For purpose of this Limited Hardware Warranty and Liability, "refurbished" means a product that has been returned to its original specifications.
In the event that LeapFrog repairs or replaces your product under warranty, the repair or replacement will remain covered by this warranty for the remainder of the Warranty Period or, where the Warranty Period has expired, for thirty (30) days from the date that the product is returned to you.
All warranty claims are subject to LeapFrog's: (i) receipt of notice of a defect within the warranty period; (ii) verification of the existence of the defect in the product; and (iii) receipt of valid proof of the purchase date.
This warranty is void and will not apply if the product is:
  • Used with other products that are not compatible with the product;
  • Modified or tampered with;
  • Used for commercial purposes (including rentals);
  • Damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, abuse, misuse or other reasons unrelated to defective materials or workmanship;
  • Immersed in water;
  • Damaged by improper installation and/or battery leakage;
  • Damaged by improper service and/or attempted service;
  • Damaged such that the serial number altered, defaced or removed;
  • Used in a manner for which it is not designed; or
  • Used with products not sold or licensed by LeapFrog, including, but not limited to, adaptors and power supply devices.
Email support@leapfrog.com to contact the LeapFrog Consumer Service Department about warranty issues. Before returning a product to LeapFrog, notify the LeapFrog Consumer Service Department. If the service representative is unable to solve the problem, you will be provided with instructions as to how to have the product repaired or replaced. If LeapFrog believes that there may be a valid warranty claim and confirms the original date of purchase for the product, LeapFrog will provide you instructions for returning the product.
You understand and acknowledge that in the event that your return your product for repair, it may become necessary for LeapFrog to provide certain services to your hardware to ensure it is functioning properly. Such services may include the installation of the latest software or firmware updates. You acknowledge and agree that some services could change your current settings, cause a removal of cosmetic stickers, product skins or accessories, cause a loss of data or content or cause some loss of functionality. You should also remove any skins or accessories from your hardware before you send the hardware in for service. LeapFrog is not liable for damages resulting from your failure to comply with the foregoing or any instructions provided to you by LeapFrog. LeapFrog reserves the right to refuse service or void the warranty of any hardware that has been modified or tampered with.
THE LAWS OF CERTAIN JURISDICTIONS, INCLUDING QUEBEC AND SASKATCHEWAN, DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LEGAL OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES. THE LAWS OF CERTAIN JURISDICTIONS, INCLUDING QUEBEC, DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF CERTAIN REMEDIES AND/OR DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE BELOW EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS WARRANTY IS PROVIDED TO YOU IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE FOR THE HARDWARE, WHICH ARE DISCLAIMED HEREUNDER. HOWEVER, IF SUCH WARRANTIES ARE REQUIRED AS A MATTER OF LAW, THEN THEY ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE WARRANTY PERIOD AS PERSCRIBED BY LOCAL LAW.
YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE RECOURSE IN THE EVENT OF ANY DISSATISFACTION WITH OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE HARDWARE OR REPAIR OF THE HARDWARE AND LEAPFROG'S MAXIMUM LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE HARDWARE. IN NO EVENT WILL LEAPFROG BE LIABILE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFIT OR ANY OTHER LOSS OR DAMAGE SUFFERED BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY, WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES ARE DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR INCIDENTAL AND ARISING UNDER ANY THEORY OF LAW FOR YOUR USE OF THE HARDWARE.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state or province to province. This warranty is valid only in the United States and Canada. The warranty offered by LeapFrog is the same whether or not you register your product.
You will also have a three (3) month warranty from the date of delivery for media on which software is delivered (e.g. cartridge or cd rom). However, this warranty does not apply to software, including, but not limited to, software that is pre-installed in the hardware, or is subsequently provided via updates or upgrade releases. Such software is licensed to you under the terms and conditions of a separate software license agreement.

I have a brand new (bought yesterday) HP Pavilion g6 laptop. Today it is reporting a hard disk problem. However, everything seems to work. Am I headed for trouble?

I don't recomend purchasing an HP to anyone because this is all too common. My father in law purchased a 17" HP Pavilion and opened it for the first time from the corner instead of the middle and the LCD cracked and broke. He didn't purchase a warantee with it and the cost of the LCD and Labor would have been half of what he originally bought it for.

Did you purchase a warantee with it? According to HP's website they have a limited warantee. This is an excerpt:

HP guarantees that the HP Hardware Products that you have purchased or leased from HP are free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use during the Limited Warranty Period. The Limited Warranty Period starts on the date of purchase or lease from HP. Your dated sales or delivery receipt, showing the date of purchase or lease of the product, is your proof of the purchase or lease date. You may be required to provide proof of purchase or lease as a condition of receiving warranty service. You are entitled to hardware warranty service according to the terms and conditions of this document if a repair to your HP Hardware Product is required within the Limited Warranty Period.

During the Limited Warranty Period, HP will, at its discretion, repair or replace any defective component. All component parts or hardware products removed under this Limited Warranty become the property of HP. In the unlikely event that your HP Hardware Product has recurring failures, HP, at its sole discretion, may elect to provide you with (a) a replacement unit of HP's choosing that is the same or equivalent to your HP Hardware Product in performance or (b) to give you a refund of your purchase price or lease payments (less interest) instead of a replacement. This is your exclusive remedy for defective products.

It is mandatory that the unit product number and serial number be made available when requesting a warranty service event. Failure to do so may result in the event being deemed out of warranty by HP or, HP's Authorised Service Providers, and therefore chargeable to the requester.

I would return it and get a different one anyway. You should be able to use the reciept as the proof of purchase.

A hard disk problem can happen with any new computer from any company, sometimes they slip through the cracks.

As a recomendation I would add that you'll get a better bang for your buck if you were to purchase a Dell (warantee is better and more inclusive) or even a Macintosh. For my father in law, he bought a Macbook (laptop) and installed bootcamp which allowed him to install the Windows 7 operating system and now he only runs Windows 7. It works really well for him.

I hope this helps!

What is the shelf life of cosmetics?

The shelf life for eye-area cosmetics is more limited than for other products. Because of repeated microbial exposure during use by the consumer and the risk of eye infections, some industry experts recommend replacing mascara 3 months after purchase. If mascara becomes dry, discard it. Do not add water or, even worse, saliva to moisten it, because that will introduce bacteria into the product. If you have an eye infection, consult a physician immediately, stop using all eye-area cosmetics, and discard those you were using when the infection occurred.

Among other cosmetics that are likely to have an unusually short shelf life are certain "all natural" products that may contain plant-derived substances conducive to microbial growth. It also is important for consumers and manufacturers to consider the increased risk of contamination in products that contain non-traditional preservatives, or no preservatives at all.

Consumers should be aware that expiration dates are simply "rules of thumb," and that a product's safety may expire long before the expiration date if the product has not been properly stored. Cosmetics that have been improperly stored - for example, exposed to high temperatures or sunlight, or opened and examined by consumers prior to final sale - may deteriorate substantially before the expiration date. On the other hand, products stored under ideal conditions may be acceptable long after the expiration date has been reached.

Sharing makeup increases the risk of contamination. "Testers" commonly found at department store cosmetic counters are even more likely to become contaminated than the same products in an individual's home. If you feel you must test a cosmetic before purchasing it, apply it with a new, unused applicator, such as a fresh cotton swab.

search for the specific cartridge you have and keywords such as "refill, reset expiration, contacts" for instructions on how to fool the printer into thinking the cartridge isnt expired yet. This works for most HPs:  http://www.refill4.com/refillinstructons/cartridges/hp-56-27-21-57-28-22.htm
