Webcam not working

My webcam doesn't work on my Gateway PC. It worked before. I receive the error "Cannot open file C:\Program Files\Camera Assistant Software for Gateway\corona\BG1.bmp". I've tried to uninstall the software, but I get the error "setup.exe has stopped working". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Gateway Windows 7 NV5929u laptop's built-in Video Web Camera doesn't work. All it does now is pop up the following message whenever I try to open it: Cannot open file C:\Program Files...

The file it's saying it cant find is a simple image file, most likely a picture used for a background or some other part of the webcam softwares interface. The first step would be to go to the location it's mentioning and make sure the file is in fact missing. If it is, you can check the recycle bin to see if it has been accidentally deleted. If its not there, then the next option would be to re-install the webcam software.
The webcam software for the gateway NV59 series can be downloaded here : http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2379
hope that helps.

Gigaware webcam installation not working

Remove the CD, then go to the program files folder and remove the folder that applies to this device. Remove the device from the USB port.

Reboot the PC.

Reinstall the software before you attach the webcam to your PC. Only attach the device when directed by the installation program, or after you have fully installed the software.

It's a pain in the ****, but reboot after you finish installing the software and then attach the device. This will allow the device manager utility to fully recognize the device and apply the appropriate drive files.

Webcam support

Hi,

Try to login to windows messanger if you have else some chat programs like yahoo, skype or google, followed by try making a video call and it'll let you know whether your webcam works or not.

But if you want to see your webcam programs,
click start - all programs - search for the name(Web cam manufacturer)
or
open my computer - open c:\ - program files - search for the webcam manfacturer.. It should be there..

If you still dont find, let me know.

Hope this helps !
Thanks !

Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
