My canon pixma mp495 printer keeps sayig papaer jam and pulls the paper in on one side only

There may be a bit of paper or a foreign object (paper clip, staple) stuck in the feeder rollers inside the printer. Lift and open every panel that you can and have a good look with a torch. pick out any foreign material you find.

Kodak go aiosupport

1. It could be a problem with the paper sensor ( a micro switch).

2. The tray holding the paper may have a defective spring causing the paper to not contact the rollers.
In the case of a "paper jam", there may be a label or just a piece of paper with some adhesive stuck in the path of the paper inside.
If the printer has a bypass tray, run a thick piece of card stock through the printer. You might be able to use a flashlight to inspect the paper path to detect any foreign material causing the "jam sensor to come on".
Be sure to use check the printer through the control panel...open the printers and select the printer properties using the right-click of the mouse and cancel all pending print jobs....
Restart the computer.
See if that helps....

The Lexmark x342n all in one printer gives the error code 200.20 i took out the paper jam and tried to print again but it still gives the same fault i also can the drum and tried again but it only...

General tip: If the paper tears when you pull a jam out of the printer, spread the paper out and make sure you have all of the pieces. A small shred left inside can cause another jam.

"I also can the drum" - does this mean you discarded the printer cartridge? I've never seen a cartridge cause a jam. Usually an accordion-fold jam in this area is the result of the fuser rollers not turning or a torn fuser sleeve. A jam without an accordion fold indicates that the paper did not make it into the toner deposition area soon enough - this could be a problem with the pickup roller or the next set of rollers. Worn or dirty rollers can work intermittently before they quit completely.

Also, check the paper detection flag to make sure it isn't hanging up (this is a black plastic tab that sticks into the paper path just before the paper goes under the cartridge, and is pushed up or down by the paper). Look for the U-shaped optical detector that is interrupted by this flag, and make sure it isn't blocked by foreign material.

Paper does not feed properly, slips, skids

Make sure the paper guides are properly aligned and spaced if they are adjustable.

The pickup roller may be worn out or loaded up with dust. If wiping it with a damp cloth doesn't help, replace it. (I tried rubber conditioner on one once. While the stuff normally works wonders, in this case, it made the pickup roller break out with little flaps of material all over, and it was still useless.)

Normally a problem with a roller farther into the printer causes the paper to crumple up in an accordion fold and jam, so I don't think these need more than a cleaning, and they probably aren't the problem.

It's also possible you have a foreign object in the paper path such as a shred of torn paper, but a good pickup roller would normally jam the paper into it before the printer halts with an error.

Printer says clear paper jam then press reset

Could there possibly be:

A) Paper jammed internally: Power Off. Open the cover and remove the paper or scrap carefully. Do not touch the internal printer parts. Close the cover. Power on.

B) Foreign objects in printer: Power Off. Open the paper support and confirm that there is no foreign material in the auto sheet feeder. (If so, remove it by hand or with tweezers). Open the front cover and confirm that there is no foreign material in the unit. Avoid touching the inner workings of the machine.

C) Reset the printer:

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button

2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer

3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. Attach data cable.

4. Turn the printer back on.

If all of these suggestions fail, your iP1600 may require repair service. Please note: With the suggested retail price of $29.99 USD, repair does not seem cost effective - you could just go out and purchase a new printer.

Paper jams and won't feed straight

Hi,

Sometimes when the printers jam up, is because they have a small piece of paper or something stuck in it's path. Try

1. Power the printer off.

2. Open the paper support and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the auto sheet feeder. If there is any foreign material, remove it by hand or with tweezers.
3. Open the front cover and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the printer. If there is any foreign material, remove it by hand or with tweezers.

Power the printer on and confirm that the printer operate normally.

Those are the only two places that something would be stuck

Good Luck

Canon i9900 on power up after boot, i am getting get 2 flashes on the orange light. I know its related to paper detection. is this a minor or major problem?

Should be minor, just says no paper, load paper and press resume. Sounds like a print job in the buffer or it wants to advance a sheet of paper thru. Paper not feeding could be major though.
