My onkyo HT RC330 will not power up at all. Have had problems past couple of months with starting it but if you played around with swith it would start. Now nothing.

Try resetting the AV receiver To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press 8 ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.

It is possible that the protection circuitry has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall.. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and then leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect only the power cord and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver stays on, set then the volume to minimum, disconnect the power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer.

If the standby light is lit it and the unit will not boot it is most likely that the protection circuit has been activated. If there is no standby light then check the fuses. These units check that the power supplies are operating near specification. If a capacitor or resistor in the circuit, or a broken solder connection the unit will shut down. Because of the temperature the thermal cycling around the power supplies a broken solder joint can occur. This will make for an intermittent operation.

Hope this helps.

Left rear speaker channel does not work. Help!!

If you allowed to live wires to touch then 9 times out of 10 you have blown the main output device for that channel. If the channel uses transistors to do the work, you can do some tests with an ohmmeter on them. It will either show that the transistor is short circuit - like touching the test probes together. Or open circuit. No response from the meter. It's likely the other channels use the same devices, and as you know they work, they can be tested to show what the bad channel should be doing.

Philips lx3000

reason of Stereo no sound:
1 poor contact, signal line, socket connection problem.Acoustic power and signal wires to check clearly good contact.
2 Most common failure is bad capacitors, amplifier or power amplifier tube burning, this is our problem, but most of those are the devices themselves are not stable.

3 there happens no sound from one channel of the power amplifier failure, problem or circuit problem.

I want to build 10 inch powered sub-woofer with good sound quality. Could you please send me the circuit diagram and enclosure design. Thank you jayantha My e-mail address

Well, it can be built any way you like, however, it must be a driver of the same max output wattage as the subwoofer channel on your unit. IF too high, it will either blow the amplifier or simply cause the system not to function(PROTECT/PROT/ other like messages) to prevent damage, or if it's too low, then the amplifier might actually blow the driver.

My HT-Z310 surround sound says protect

The amplifier has a bad channel, the power supply is bad, or the amplifier is drawing too much power. The speakers could also be wrong, if they are not the speakers that came ith th unit, they will need to be replaced. (Any speakers within the specs of the amplifier will work, so to that end the system is customizable. You can go to to find the amplifier's wattage per channel, but the speakers you get MUST be 3 ohms impedance.) I have an article/tip/how-to as to wiring multiple speakers to one channel.

Mic/line inputs Yamaha md8 Multitrack recorder not working

A little testing is required to nail this down.

1) Will a standard mic work in either channel?
2) Will a line level source work in either channel?

It is likely that either the power supply for the phantom power or the supply for the mic pre-amp IC has failed or the IC itself has failed. If a standard mic works, then it is the phantom power supply that is faulty.

I am not aware of any service manual available other than from Yamaha directly (for a price of course...)

If you can update this with the test results, perhaps we can walk through this repair.

I have the same problem. However you can't abandon the system since the player has an inbuilt 5.1 channel amplifier. I have been told by someone that I can use another DVD player and connect AV chord to LX3600 D which will be used as amplifier only.

Cant See

do you have your tv set to the correct AV channel   (for a scart connection) look at the Scart port on the TV (it should be numbered usually AV1..AV2..etc..)

Then you just need to switch to the appropriate AV channel on your TV

hope this helps.....

also check in your TV manual if the av socket you are connected to is an input or an output.
