My Maxtor Hard Drive wont let take off or load on any material. It keeps saying it can not be be modified. What do I do ???

if its not the C/: and isn't an external drive then as a secondary drive it has become coprrupt with its signing to windows because of it booting up with windows , right click on it and reformat it or use something like Maxblast or Acronis to boot it up and if that works then you can remove any content to reformat it just check to see if content needs to be removed before reformatting.

if it is working then why need to reformat?

try to back up your files first before you reformat it, just copy paste all the imporatnt data to a folder on your computer, after that you can now reformat your flash drive

Maxtor hard drive

Yes it can,

The drive will have to have the current partition removed and be re-partitioned and reformatted then it will be ready for use.

If you need more info regarding the procedure, reply here with your operating system and I can give you a little more info.

Formating hard disk

IF the old PC motherboard will recognize the drive while booting up, Windows 98 will also see the drive after boot-up. You may have to reformat the drive into smaller partitions.

All you have to do is physically install the drive in your old computer and attempt to boot. After the computer boots up, if the drive does not show up shut down and put the drive back in your old computer. Use the manufacturer's partitioning software available on their website to change the drive from one 250 Gb partitions to five 50 Gb partitions.
