Are you sure the display is on? some cameras have a display button you can turn on and off to conserve battery. The LCDs can crack also, if its cracked it may need fixed. Most cameras have a tv output you can connect the camera to the tc and view what the screen displays. Maybe you could use that and flip threw the menu or atleast check to see if its a mode its stuck in or if the LCD is broken.

I have a Canon A720is (about 5 years old) that recently has started to show problems.

I think you immersed camera in water. This might have damaged corroded contact of LCD supply line and PCB.

Screen does not work, stays black

Water and LCD screens don't mix. I'd say the screen itself is shot, and will need to be replaced. However, I cannot find anyone selling these parts. Your best bet may be to watch for a broken one on eBay - so long as it's not the LCD that's broken, and buy it for parts.

Black Screen On Blackberry Storm 9530

Try to leave the battery out for an hour or two. Then try again. If it still doesn't work, it might be the lcd screen is damaged or its the software problem.

Monitor stuck on black, menu buttons not responding

It's sort of a solution, but I work in a computer shop and got this screen in yesterday. I looked at it closely and it's actually the backlight that died. I pulled it apart and found that three of the 820uF/20V capacitors had swollen up. If you replace them then you should be fine, but I went for a different approach and took the inverter board from a laptop and put the in the screen and used an external power supply. It's a bit dark but it works fine now.

Razr- turning on camera makes screen turn black but keypad stays lit

the easiest thing tpo do here is take it to a professional but if you want to try updating your software off the Motorola website. (this require a data cable or bluetooth in your computer) This fixes a lot of software problems with the razor. If this doesn't work then you will have to reflash your Firmware which is like the Windows Xp of the phone. This does require a professional as it can destroy the phone
