Accessing my bellsouth email account on samsung galaxy

Set your mail settings as below, but do it while you're connected to WiFi rather than cellular data.

Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming (POP): pop.att.yahoo.com
Incoming User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname @ bellsouth.net, but without the spaces... the forum won't let me type it correctly because I'm new here)
Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked

Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.att.yahoo.com, with authentication (same user and password as POP)
Outgoing User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname @ bellsouth.net)
Outgoing mail port # 465, secure connection (SSL) checked

The host 'PoP3"means what

Make sure your password and server name are correct on the email account, and make sure the server you are useing for outgoing mail is a pop3 server. Your provider for internet services may not be a pop3 server on your outgoing mail, it may be a smtp server or something like that for outgoing mail. Check in your email account properties to see what your outgoing mail server says, incoming and outgoing can be different depending on your supplier.

Please can you help,i can recieve emails but not send them , how can i fix this. roger

Most often this problem occurs when your internet service provider (ISP) blocks their sending port from use by other servers.

Example: If your internet service provider is bellsouth for example and your outgoing mail server is set to mail.yahoo.com or smtp.yahoo.com or mail.yourdomainname.com etc.... it may be getting blocked by bellsouth. The do this to avoid spammers from using their systems.

To fix it, contact your internet service provider and ask what your outgoing mail server should be. For Bellsouth it would be mail.bellsouth.net. Replace your outgoing mail server information with the information provided by your ISP and all should work well.

I cant get my bellsouth.net incoming mail or outgoing. had to set up my computer ater losing everything what do i put for my incoming mail server(pop, imap, http incoming mail pop, imap or...

Im assuming you are using outlook express, if not, I apologize, but steps should be similar for other types of software:

  1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  3. Click POP3, and then click Next.
  4. Under User Information, do the following:
    1. In the Your Name box, type your full name the way that you want it to appear to other people.
    2. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail user name, followed by @bellsouth.net.
  5. Under Server Information, do the following:
    1. In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type mail.bellsouth.net.
    2. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type mail.bellsouth.net.
  6. Under Logon Information, do the following:
    1. In the User Name box, type your full e-mail address, including the @bellsouth.net domain.
    2. In the Password box, type your password.
    3. Select the Remember password check box.
Note You have the option to have Outlook remember your password by typing it in the Password box and selecting the Remember password check box. Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password each time you access the account; however, it also means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer.
  1. To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you are prompted to supply or correct it. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
  2. Click More Settings.
  3. On the General tab, under Mail Account, type BellSouth.net.
  4. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
  5. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server, and then click OK.
  6. Click Next, and then click Finish.
Notes
  • Do not select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.
  • Unless specified by BellSouth.net, all server and address entries are typed in lowercase letters.
Good Luck!

E mail error550 I am not receiving or sending

You need to check your outgoing mail server name and the authentication associated with the account you are using. In other words, your email client (like Outlook or Thunderbird) has an outgoing mail server name and an account name and password setting. Try this:
Open your Outlook (or other mailer) settings (Tools > Accounts)
Go to View/Change email account for the email account you are having problems with.
Check that the SMTP Server is set to yourdomain.com
Go into the "More settings", "Outgoing Server" tab and make sure that the option "My server requires authentication" for the Outgoing server is checked ON. Save and close all windows. Try again.

It will be slightly different for other mail programs, but you should see the same type of information, but maybe in other tabs/windows.

Sending e-mail on iPhone

I think I found the solution for those of you who are on roadrunner service. I researched online for several hours and came up with this solution - it works for me - receiving and sending all mail:
Go to Settings disable wi-fi instead of the pie on the top you will see the blue E Go to Settings - general - reset - click on reset networks Once your network is reset, click on Settings - Mail - add account - plus in your name, address, and e-mail account name xxx@nyc.rr.com Scroll to incoming mail server: type in pop-server.nyc.rr.com user name (that's the first part of your e-mail addresss before the @nyc.rr.com) your password (the one you used setting up your account with roadrunner) scroll down to outgoing mail server host name: cwmx.com:587 click on Advanced - make sure that use ssl is off on both incoming and outgoing. Your server port should show as 587 when all done, click on the top left arrow which should show your e-mail address exit the mail system, the click on the icon from the main menu and it should work Good luck!
