I was driving on the interstate and something flew out from under my car...I get to work and the serpentine belt is under my car, but something flew out from under my car and on the interstate. I am thinking it was the tension pulley...could it be?

Check to see if the tension pulley is still connected. In most cases there will be a diagram located on the fan shroud. Also check the other pulleys such as the AC condenser. Good luck.

pull oil cap and look in valve cover and see if you can see valves moving chances are if it died when driving you may need to rehome your idle speed control try turning key on engine off for 10 sec on 10 sec off for 6 to trys and then give it about half throttle and try to start and see if it runs if it does see if it idles if it dont idle try the 10 on and off a few more times

Make sure the bearings are good in the belt tensioner and idler pulley and that they all line up best. Use a quality belt and follow belt diagram

Serpentine Belt came off

Yes it would have been part of the job unless you have a electric water pump wich I very much doubt. Let the mechanic know what happened. Serpentine belts can be put on a diffrent way to normal & look right but be slightly loose & may come off. I always draw a diagram before removeing it if there is not a diagram on the bonnett. They should have a book or be able to look up the correct routing.

My serpentine belt flew off my 1999 Audi A6 Quattro. I want to do this job myself and was wondering if anyone has a belt diagram and also a list of what tools I will need? I am hoping I do not need to...

you will need to determine WHY it came off in the first place. belts just dont fly off for no reason. you may be better to find a shop that does euro work and is familiar with audi.

1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition - a pully flew off (literally!), and I can't tell if it's the water pump or some other part - it's directly below the alternator. I need to know what that accessory...

I would bet it is the belt tensioner or belt idler, but can not be sure as I can not look it. At one time there were belt routing diagrams on a sticker under the hood, but I do not know if your Explorer was one of those. If I find a link to the belt routing I will post it for you.
