Toshiba tp5581a 55 in. rear projection tv.....problem
The tv was give to me without a screen, we replaced it and everything else was supposed to work. we put the screens in it and everything that belongs in the middle of the screen is bunched up on the bottom. and the writing on the bottom of the screen is upside down. I took the screen back off and looked in the projectors and it appears the same way in them..any ideas on what this could be. The guy that gave it to us said it hasnt been turned on in about 4 years....could something have frozen up?

Sorry to inform you, but you need to have the processor or "brain' replaced. Mine did that while it was still under warranty and toshiba took care of ir qujickly and free of charge. Toshiba customer service is excellent. Give them a call. also I recall hearing about a defective part that Toshiba will replace free of charge. but give them a call and see what they will do for you.
The problem lies within the unit.
You have a hardware failure within the board. Most likely the power supply board needs to be repaired or replaced. I hate to give you this bad news, but the cost to have the power supply board repair or replace will exceed the value of your rear projection television. Of course it all depends how much you want to invest in the television. Sorry, but I wish I had good news for you. Just being honest.
the only fast solution is to go to an authorized TOSHIBA dealer repair shop and have it order it , warning the screen is expensive as I found out when I needed one too ( i own a 55" TOSHIBA ) it could cost around $200.00 up to $400.00. hope this info helps
