And where exactly is the unused coffee-in the drawer or under the brew unit? Did you try to wash the brew unit with water-fill a box with hot water and put it into box. Leave it all night and in the morning just clean on the water and dry it.

I have a Saeco Easy. Maybe the solution for my machine will help you. You did not specify which light is red I will assume it is the "Alarm" light.
Alarm light (looks like an "!" exclamation point)
• permanently on: signals the machine is out of coffee, the water tank is empty, the drip tray is full or the dregdrawer is full.
• slowly flashing: signals that the brew group is not inserted, the dregdrawer is not inserted, the coffee bean hopper lid is not on, the service door is open or the steam/hot water knob is not correctly turned to the desired position.
• quickly flashing: signals the need to prime the water circuit
Descaling light: • on and fl ashing: signals the need to perform a descaling cycle
Machine ready light: • permanently on: signals that the machine is ready for use. • on and fl ashing: signals that the machine is warming up.
Alarm light: • permanently on : signals the machine is out of coffee, the water tank is empty, the drip tray is full or the dregdrawer is full (in this case, also empty the coffee grounds drawer in order to prevent failures). • on and fl ashing slowly: signals that the brew group is not inserted, the dregdrawer is not inserted the coffee bean hopper lid is not on, the service door is open or the steam/hot water knob is not correctly turned to the desired position. • on and quickly fl ashing: signals the need to prime the water circuit.
Check the back of the drain tray make sure there are no grinds. Then we will have to test the micro switches, remove the drain tray and dregs drawer, insert tray without the drawer, to see if you get an error. A more complicated way is to have the door open place tray minus drawer in machine, then using a small stray or plastic knife, activate the microswitches.
There is no 'sensor' for this, an internal counter resets when you remove the drawer with the machine switched on and the "Dreg drawer Full" message displayed. Make sure the machine displays this message "DREG DRAWER FULL" Do NOT turn off the machine, Pull out the drawer that the used grinds are dumped in(you have to remove the drip tray 1st) Check display - it should read "DREG DRAWER MISSING" If the display message is correct, wait 10 seconds then replace the drewer. Message should be cleared. If the "dreg drawer missing" does not display, you do have a bad sensor and machine needs to be serviced.
drain machine, turn off power , get vacuum cleaner nozzle into drawer slot (make sure its dry or u'll have to post a repair for vacuum cleaner repair) remove all deposits for chamber , shake and bang machine to lossen deposits. if drawer has metal clips or something that looks like sensors (does not have to have wires attached to be a sensor) clean !
