HP LaserJet 1100 to print from new MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.4

Hello problem solvers:
Bought parallel cable and mini-Centronics adapter to connect HP LaserJet 1100 Printer with new MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.4. Tried to install drivers recommended by (had difficulty w/some instructions as they were probably written for older version OS X like Tiger) but one or two pages eventurally printed and then it stopped cold. Received message (paraphrase): Generic warning class: Looking for device. How can I get consistent, multiple prints just as I do/did when it was connected to old (once reliable, but no longer) Dell?

A step-by-step guide would be most appreciated, but any and all help is welcome!
Best, Joan S

i have the similar problem, same printer and similar version of Mac Os X 10.5.4 system. since one month each and every driver download and even "use a printer attached to a windows Xp computer in Mac Os X". I have developed sores on back for the last one month. As mentioned in the above post simply attaching HP 1100 through USB and what kind of drivers are needed to run this workhorse of its time.

What kind of cable is needed to connect a Fargo DTC 520 to a computer?

The cable you need for that printer is a Parallel IEEE1284 Compatible Bi-directional printer cable. It is the regular printer cable everyone used before all the printers went USB. If you dont have a parallel port on your computer, the link below is to USB Parallel adapters that you should be able to use with this printer.

Will my HP Officejet v40xi All-in-One Printer work with my new macbook?

This printer is not supported by HP under Mac OSX. You may be able to get it to print with limited functionality suing a generic driver, but none of the specialized functions such as scanning will work.
However, installing an emulater program such as VMWare or Parallels will allow you to run Windows on your Macbook. You could then download the driver from HP's website here:
and use the printer from within Windows.
I hope this helps!

I have a HP Laser Jet 4 Plus and recently purchased a new desktop computer. The male end of the printer cord does not have a female match on my new tower. Is there a connector or something that will make...

You have a parallel interface on the printer. It was commonly referred to as a Centronics 36 pin cable. Your computer probably doesn't have the interface to support it. The fix is to get a cable that will work from your computer to the printer. For this you will need a USB to Parallel (Centronics) cable.

It will be hard to go to a store and locate one but I know you can find them all day long on eBay for under $10.

Try searching for "USB to Parallel" cable and see what you come up with. If you're savvy on eBay, you might want to pick up some extra toner while your there as well. The part # for your printers toner is C3903A.

Nice black and white printer that should serve you well for quite a while. Not to great doing graphics but B&W it does rather well.

Good Luck

Exactly what I'm experiencing, it goes though all the motions, but no ink is on the paper. I just installed 10.5.8 last night on my Mac Pro. The drivers are up to date, but no ink hits the paper.

MD5000 to MACBOOK PRO problem

MAC is NOT my forte... however, I do know that ALPS offered THIS a few years after the MD5000 came out:

USB Interface Kit for the iMac OS V8.01 and Windows ($99)

You might find it on ebay etc. and be able to use it (no support with this printer on OS X!).
