Question about RCA R52WH73 Projection Television

RCA R52WH74 (ITC222A Chassis)

Hi:

Thank you for your last response to my question concerning the FL231 fuse that keeps blowing.

Two questions I have for you:

1) Is the "Convergence Power Supply Board" the same board that the FL231 fuse and the flyback transformer is located on?

2) My chassis is actually an ITC222A chassis, and the board I *think* you are referring to with the FL231 fuse is actually shaped differently and looks a bit different that the link you provide me at http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/. So, I'm wondering if there is a different place I can obtain replacement boards for the ITC222A chassis.

Also - do you know of a way to get ahold of the service manuals and/or schematics for these boards?

Thanks for any help - you've been really helpful so far.

The problem is related to the Convergence power supply board, which is shorting out and blowing fuse FL231. You will need a new Convergence power supply board to repair the Issue with the ITC222 chassis. You can get a replacement board at the following link.

i have the same model R52WH74/ ITC222A that will not come on. The green light comes on and the light goes out about 3 times before it quits completely. I bought this set from WalMart in December 2006.

So is this a common problem with this set and will it continue to happen if this is truely the problem with a fuse

No the board that has the FL231 on is the ITC222 deflection board. The other board is above the chassis in a seperate frame that runs across the set the convergence power supply is the board on the left above the board where the fL231 is. Yes the ITC222 and ITC222A are the same chassis. As for the service manual that site should have the service manual under the thomson category as the ITC 222 chassis is actually a thomson chassis made for RCA.

My RCA R52WH74 chassis # ITC222A wont turn on. The green power light comes on for about 10 seconds then shuts off. No picture, no sound. How do I fix it? Buying a new TV just isn't in out budget!

That model is famous for having issues with the deflection board failing. Replacing the deflection board should solve the issue. You can get replacement deflection board for the ITC222A chassis from www.tvrepairworld.com under the RCA circuit boards catagory.

No you will need the 270125 Flyback for the R52WH74 as thats a ITC222A chassis. The D52W14 is the ITC222 and uses the 259296 flyback.they are not interchangeable

The Red,Blue,Green do not line up and keeps blowing fuse

you need to replace 3 items FL231, DL231, CL230 then resolder the vertical IC and flyback conections. You can get the three components under the RCA parts category at this link.

RCA R52WH74 Convergence Problem

Yes i replace that fluse fl231 all the time at the shop. at least two aweek. and the first few i replaced did the same thing. I would send it back to customer and i would get a call that the set had malfuctioned again and convergence gone. It was determined the reason this fuse blows is bad conections on the flyback transformer. The flyback is the big black component with the red wire coming out of the top. if you examine the connections on this component there will more than likely be a ring in the solder. this is caused by the manufacturing process known as LEAD-free solder. THis cause oscillations in that cuicit. like turning it of and on really fast. this is a very small fuse and cant stand up to this. so when you replace this fuse just simply RESolder these connections apply a little amount of solder to these connection. i am confident this will fix your problem.
