Kenmore washer and dryer won't work

Just bought a used Kenmore washer model # 20632 991 type 111
The water will fill the machine but it will not automatically advance from cycle to cycle.
The spin cycle does not seem to work at all....sounds like a timer...is this a big deal? Costly...easy or hard to fix??

The dryer works but does not get hot....sounds like the heating element? Easy or hard to repair...costly??
