Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU800CWD Built-in Dishwasher

Dishwasher does not start to fill

Dishwasher had been working normally until today. Now there is no water entering the chamber. Is the problem likely to be the valve that lets water enter? How do I check it with my multimeter? Thanks

Re: Dishwasher does not start to fill

Check water entrance pipe, myaybe it was bend (if you have there a tap - see it is open). The water entrance valve is an electromagnet valve, loocated at the pipe's enterance to the machine. Test that it get power (with your meter). In case it get power and dosen't work - You can easyly open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!!! Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace for a new valve. Good luck

Hi, i've taken the top and sides off my Bosch dish washer sgs45e02gbas it has not been working. the problem is ....when you switch it on is there is a pumping/throbing noise but doesn't continue...

Hello Phillip,

The reason only the pump runs anytime its powered up is because the flood detector has detected water in the base of the dishwasher and until that water is gone only the pump will run. That flood detector is (when looking at it from the front) is in the left front corner, its a styrofoam disc with a rod in the center of it and has floated up activating the flood switch on the letf side wall where the water enters the tub (can be seen on the left side with side panel removed) if thier is no water in the base frame perhaps some foreign object has wedged itself under the sytrofoam disc holding it up. Until the water is out of the base frame only the pump will run as long as the flood switch is tripped.

Possible things that will make water be in the base frame are,
oversuds from too much detergent
a leak of any component or hose
a defective water level switch allowing it to overfill

Maytag dishwasher

Theres a Floater inside the tub protecting against overflow. when it is pushed up or stuck by debris, and does not fall down to its inactive position, it can prevent water from filling. So be sure there is no debris and move the floater up and down until it falls down in its normal position.

Also dishwashers can lose their pump prime and will not fill with water if there is no priming water in the bottom of the unit. To solve this problem, you must add several quarts of water to the unit. Let it settle down in the bottom until it stops going down. Start the washer and you will hear this water pump out of the drain and the unit will now fill with fresh water..

Thank you..Regards!!..

I have a asko d1976 and it does not get enough water in but when i manually put water in it works normally could it be some sort of blockage i have never put cleaner through the machine until now

Hello Steven,

Welcome to FixYa.

I won't be available for the rest of the evening, ( it's getting late here and I'm crabbing a snack and calling it quits until morning, but this should get you started.

Based on your description...and provided the dishwasher is indeed 1. an Asko D1796 ( the FI just means it's "fully integrated" ) and 2. is filling with some water ( just not enough ), washing, heating and draining without any error codes...It sounds like a faulty fill valve/water valve unfortunately.

First though, you can perform a diagnostic/fault trace program by following the steps below. You should hear the valve starting once the unit has started filling with water.

You'll need to be familiar with the control layout for the test to begin. This is how the buttons/display is identified in the diagnostic...

Now you can enter the fault trace by way of the following sequence....

Obviously based on the instructions if you push S3 the valve should open and allow water into the tub, this image below indicates the normal water level to look for when filling in the normal cycle NOT FAULT TRACING...Fault trace will fill until you stop it.

This unfortunately is common with Asko built dishwasher`s, but it can be fairly easily repaired with a little direction/know-how.

**First turn off the water and the power to the first**

You should only need to remove the toe panel/kick plate at the bottom and of course turn your water and power off, undo the water line at the valve,

...remove the two torx screws ( large arrow ) and then the delivery hose at the back of the valve ( small arrow ) and install the new one.

The new valve is part # 8801351 and available at on-line parts depot "" for about $170USD last time I looked.

Let me know what you find and I'll try and help you move forward from may opt to call in a pro but that's up to you.

I'll watch for your reply.

No water?

If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Float switch
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

KUDS24SEB3 - can't start cycle properly

I just had the same problem. I finally pressed Rinse Only and it started to fill. Without canceling, I depressed Normal, and it seems to be going through the proper cycle now.
