How to replace water dispenser handle Frigidaire

The water dispenser inside the refrigerator is dripping. How do I remove the dispenser without damaging it or the refrigerator. I suspect a faulty gasket or seal in the dispenser valve may be the problem.

It looks to me like you get the dispenser out by removing the plastic cover and rubber seal...hopefully this exposes mounting screws...is this correct and are there any surprises when trying to access this, so I can remove the whole unit? My water dispenser handle snapped off...I know a new one is about $55 and looks like replacing it requires removal of the whole unit and replacing it on the workbench and then reinstalling the whole unit. Is this correct?

SOURCE: Handle replacement for water dispenser

Melissa, you don't get it from the inside. Remove the drip tray by pulling it out. You should see two screws holding the dispenser cover on each side of the bottom. Remove these screws and push up on the dispenser cover, there's 3 hooks on the top. Unplug the harness from the dispenser board and get the cover out of the way. Now is the hard part. You have to get at the module itself that holds the paddle. These can be a fight. If you go to Sears.com, go to appliance then parts and post your model number you should get a breakdown of the dispenser that will guide you. Catriver..post back

SOURCE: the plastic handles that dispense the water are broken

Where can I buy the spigets for a Sunbeam water cooler. I need one for hot and one for cold water. These handles are not strong enough plastic to last the lifetime of the unit. They should be made from metal. If the taps on our kitchen sink was made from plastic you can imagine how long they would last.

SOURCE: Side by side Frigidaire. The water dispenser

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.
