Hi, I've had my Acer aspire laptop for a few years now, but I haven't used it for over a year (Because I got a desktop). So when I've come to turn it on today, It won't work. The screen lights up, but nothing else happens, I can't hear any noise coming from it etc. On the front of the laptop, just below the Touch pad, there are two orange lights, which used to be blue. The power switch also used to light up blue whenever I plugged my charger in, and now it doesn't. Though, the charger does work, I tried it in my brothers laptop. Any idea's?

Start with pulling the battery and power, then hold the power button in for about 30-40 seconds. Then plug the power back in (still no battery). Try to power up the computer. If it boots, shut it down and put the battery in and try again. If it boots the issue was cleared. If it boots with the power cord but not with the battery added, you have a battery issue.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I'd suggest that you take it to a local pc parts dealer / repairer for a diagnosis, the problem might be solvable by removing the ram from the laptop --> powering on the laptop without ram -> turning it off, -> reinserting the ram and seeing if it lights up.

If not, its something more serious.

The orange lights are suspended / Charging.

Let it charge for a while and try powering on again.

If the lights flash, it would indicate that there is not enought power to turn on.

Also note that bugs, and small insects might get inside the laptop from the ventilation holes and they might cause problems if its been sitting somewhere for a year. Or the machine might have got a hit / dropped during the year that has caused the problem.

Way to slow down the z5610 acer fan? it runs loud after 2 years.

http://computershopper.com/desktops/reviews/acer-aspire-z5610

A) Needs to be opened up. Needs to be cleaned out inside.

Two years? Bet it looks 'scary dirty' inside. After you have cleaned out the inside, donate the 'Gunk' to local mice. They can use it for a condo. (I would charge them rent)

B) Processor may need old Thermal Paste replaced. Clean top of Processor, and bottom of finned Heatsink, and PROPERLY apply fresh, new Thermal Paste.

Primer:
Air is used to cool the inside of that All-In-One desktop computer. The Processor and graphics chipset, are the two hardware components that give off the most heat.

The finned Heatsink, and Processor Fan, are the two cooling components for the Processor. When they get clogged with 'Gunk' over the years, the cooling capacity drops -> tremendously.

The Processor fan sensor, senses that the Processor is too hot, and speeds the Processor fan up. Also BIOS speeds the computer case fan/s up.

Could also be that the bearings for the fan/s are bad. Replacement fan, or fans are needed.

ONE THING HOWEVER Karl, to work on this All-In-One you need to wear an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip connected to a good ground source.
This is just like working on a LAPTOP computer, NOT a desktop.

Average example,

(And of course unplugged from power)

Need guidance in cleaning, and replacing the Thermal Paste, just post back in a Comment. I will guide you.

I've got a password on my laptop and have not been able to remember it now for months, I have an Acer Aspire 7730 which is approx 4 or 5 years old now can you please help.

Just re-install the software again and your are done with this issue. Use the recovery disc that came with the computer or use a new Operating System disc be sure it is Windows that originally came or compatible with your computer. Then you can start fresh without any password needed until you do another one, HINT: I use my last four digits of my social so that I will never forget my password ever.

Not charging Acer Aspire 5732z, now won't turn on!

If it does not work with the Charger while the battery is out then I would say either your charger is bad, the dc power jack where the charger plugs into the laptop is bad or you've got motherboard issues. Does the charger have a light on it to indicate that it is on when plugged in the wall? Do you see any lights when you plug the charger into the laptop?

Take an ink pen and see if the little pin inside the computer where the charger plugs is loose and moves a bit. If so that is probably your problem. If the pin is tight and the charger works, then you've got motherboard issues.

Ok i have had my acer aspire 5315-2326 for a year

try downloading the compatible acer aspire webcam software for your laptop. My laptop is also acer. It is aspire 4730z and it works perfectly fine. I think the software you are using is not compatible with your laptop.

Also most aspire models have lesser durability webcams. It gets really annoying when webcams of aspire won't work. I completely understand your situation.

Just follow my instruction and it will work perfectly fine.
