Question about Kenmore 74832 Gas Dryer

Dryer has no heat

I noticed that you replied to a person with almost the exact same question that I have. I'm hoping that you can help me. i have a Kenmore 110.74832400 clothes dryer, and it runs wonderfully except for the fact that theres no heat. My husband and father took it apart and cleaned the entire thing out. It lit once and was blowing cold air, turned it off and restarted it and it's blowing only cold air again. We were thinking there was a problem with the ignitor, but you commented to the last guy that its hardly ever the ignitor. What do you think the problem might be? With 5 kids, and work being slow for my husband this year (construction business) we really can't afford to have anyone come look at it.

same model number, same problem, checked ignitor, checked thermal fuse, checked the coils....all fine. There isn't any electricity running to any of the things listed above. Could it be a timer problem?

If the ignitor is glowing, but there is no heat, make sure the gas shut off didn't get bumped closed, otherwise I would replace the gas valve coils, part # 279834. They are mounted on the gas valve itself, and are very easy to replace.

Dryer runs but does not produce any heat. Got a memo on the panel saying clean lint filter, which I have done.

The element may have failed if no heat at any setting. It could also be the thermostat but the element is more likely if no heat at any setting
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

IM REPLACING HEATING ELEMENT FOR MY CROSLEY DRYER....I DIDNT PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THE EXACT WIRING....4 RED CONNECTORS...2 HOOK UP TO THEROSTAT..AND 2 TO HEATING ELEMENT....I CONNECTED THEM AND CLOSED...

unplug dryer....if you take the top back panel off, there should be six screws and look in the top left hand corner there should be a schematic for the dryer. All appliances have then located in this area, unless someone has took them out. Hope this helped Tim

Dryer stop heating

Try vacuuming out the intake and exhaust vents for the burner. Lint collected there can block the burner operation. Hope this helps!

I have a Kenmore electric dryer 68721 that doesn't heat. It cycles and tumbles.

Hi,
Most likely you have a bad heating element or a bad wire/connection. The only way to test is with the cabinet open and the dryer running. I would recommend that only a qualified person or tech perform this. I hope this helps. If I can t anything else to help please let me know.

Light underneath dryer, right side, front

Hi,

What you`ve ``just started noticing...`` is likely the ignitor glowing or the burner burning and is quite normal for a ``gas`` dryer.

Hope that answer`s your question. If so please take a second to rate the reply I provided to you here at fixya.

Thank you.

There is a good chance it's the 'thermal fuse'

Dryer heats with smaller loads

1. unplug your machine and rach as far in the exhaust part of the dryer to see if there is an obstrucxtion
2.Take out the lint filter and make sure there are no gaping holes in the screen
3. Check the exhaust house leaving the machine or blockage, this hose should not run more than ten feet for optimal drying time.
4. its your heating element
