My drier was on the sensor cycle and was supposed to run for 54 mins. It was still drying over 2 hours later and the display showed there were 42 mins remaining in the cycle. The clothes were completely dry. I stopped it immediately and tried another wet load in it. Again it was supposed to dry for the 54 mins it showed on the display. I checked after an hour and it was still drying...this time showing 19 mins left. Why won't it stop automatically?

More than likely the temperature sensor has gone bad. If the unit is under warranty I would contact the dealer...otherwise you need to replace the sensor.

Dryer is set to run 40 mins when it shouts off at 0 on the dryer is has only run 20 mins according to my stove timer

Dryer has a moisture sensor that detects the clothes are dry so it shuts off earlier. If the clothes are still damp then the dryer vent may be plugged and causing the unit to run hot or not able to fully evacuate the air from the machine. Clean the vent and make sure it's completely free and try again. If it short cycles again and clothes still damp you may have a sensor controller issue.

I run into cycle everything is running ok except to the sensor dry regular and wringkle control is not running properly into desire time set like i put it into 42 mins after 2 to 3 mins it change to 1 min...

Hi,Your sensor dry is controlled by a moisture sensor inside the unit and below the vent grill. Take a wet wash cloth and clean the sensor, this problem is common when dryer sheets are used. If you want you can use rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball to clean it. This should be done from time to time so the sensor can detect the moisture in the clothes as the pass. Give this a shoot, you have nothing to loose and everything to save.
Get back if you have anymore issue or this doesn't correct the problem.

Takes three cycles to dry towels, displays 45 min. turns off within 30 min. still not dry

2 possible reasons, either the towels have not been spun at a high enough speed and are too wet, or the dryer is not getting hot enough because it is not switched to a high enough heat setting or there is a partial element or thermostat or humidity sensor failure. You should spin your towels as fast as you can, 1000 MINIMUM but 1400 or more is better. Did it ever work? Is it a new drier? Is it getting hot? 45 mins is a short time anyway to dry a full load of towels.

Stops mid cycle. Light flashes, cant get it to move on so have to start all over again

Hi there.
I have the same problem with my machine. Whatever program I select, the machine runs fine until it reaches 54 mins of the cycle remaining. To overcome the problem just to select a cycle that will not stop mid cycle, select a program which is less than 54 mins. I think the 40 degrees and quick wash select is the one to run with. The cycle is 45 mins, obviously less that 54 mins. The LED timer will display the cycle time. No problems with this cycle whatsoever. Not the total solution, but at least you're able to complete a cycle. After it's completed, I also run the spin program at 1200rpm. I hope this helps.
Regards, Ian.

I just bought a Samsung DV665JW dryer. Before it is completely dry, it stops, shows "end" on the display. I didn't take out the clothes for a while and then after about 15mins, it started drying again,...

This sounds like it is on a permanent press cycle. When it says end the clothes are dry.

Having said that....... If it is NEW this is a warranty repair. The moisture sensor is most likely the culprit causing the end of cycle trigger pre-maturely. Check around the moisture sensor for anything like bobby pins, straight pins, toothpicks (i.e anything foreign. Check the 2 strips and along the edges thoroughly for any foreigen matter.

If it is 2nd hand the moisture sensor is probably bad and passing false dry signals to the control. Again check for foreign debris before even thinking about replacing parts.

If you find nothing then before you buy parts there is a test for the moisture sensor. Just respond here and we can go from there.

Amana model LGA30AW automatic setting doesn't shut the dryer off

You can make adjustments to your Automatic Cycles by adjusting the Factory Dryness Level:
Changing the Automatic Cycle settings to increase or decrease drying time:
If all your loads on all Automatic Cycles are consistently less dry or more dry than you would like, you may change the default settings to increase or decrease the default dryness
level.

Your automatic drying settings can be adjusted to adapt to different installations, environmental conditions, or personal preference. This change is retained and will affect all of your
Automatic Cycles, not just the current cycle/load. There are 5 drying settings, which are displayed using the time display:
0 Much wetter clothes, 30% less drying time.
1 Slightly wetter clothes, 15% less drying time.
2 Factory preset dryness level.
3 Slightly drier clothes, 15% more drying time.
4 Much drier clothes, 30% more drying time.
TO CHANGE THE DRYING SETTINGS: NOTE: The settings cannot be changed while the dryer is running or paused. The dryer must be in standby mode (power is off) to adjust the default settings.
  1. Before starting a cycle, touch and hold DRYNESS for 6 seconds.
  2. Touch DRYNESS to select the dryness level shown in the time display: 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  3. Touch START/PAUSE to save the new dryness level setting.

Machine drys fine on timed cycles but shuts off before clothes are dry on automatic cycle.

First try cleaning the moisture sensors with rubbing alcohol, these are two silver colored strips located inside the drier just below the lint cleanout
