I was able to connect to my HP Compaq Presario V2000 Laptop to my WiFi Network using NetGear. When I reconfigured the network I could connect to all other network like Dell Lptop , Nokia Smart Phone and HP...

Hi!

Your Compaq V2000 has an Intel Pro Wireless 2200 BG wireles adapter. (doesn't support N, but that's not the point I think)

If your new network configuration is based on WPA/WPA2 encyption, this adapter has some known problems to establish a connection. It works great with WEP, but not so well with WPA.
Sometimes the issue can be solved by installing the latest versions of drivers and software for the wireless adapter.
If it still doesn't work, a known workaround is to disable via device manager all other network adapters in the computer (ethernet adapter), leaving active only the Intel Pro 2200 wireless adapter.

Hope it helped,

Bogdan

It sounds like your WiFi switch was somehow shut off.

hpweb_1-2_minus.gif Wireless device is turned off or disabled The power to the wireless network and Bluetooth devices is controlled by a switch or button on most computers. It is possible to accidentally bump the button and turn off the wireless service. c02230159.jpg On most computers, there is an LED light that glows blue when the wireless device is turned on and enabled, and glows orange when off or disabled. Some newer models use different a different color scheme, see the user guide for more information. To turn on and enable the wireless device, do the following:
  1. To turn on the wireless device, simply move the switch to the on position. On some computers, the switch is actually a touch point on the panel above the keyboard.
  2. To enable the wireless device, right-click the HP Wireless Assistant (disabled) icon c02448899.jpg and select Open Wireless Assistant . Click Turn On . The HP Wireless Assistant (enabled) icon c02448900.jpg will display.
  3. Or you can try pressing the Fn and the F2 keys at the same time to enable your wireless adapter.

Compaq presario v2000 note book wont get power / turn on...

Try using a different power adapter (what plugs into the wall) with your laptop. If you find that it charges and powers on, then all need to buy is a new power adapter. If it still doesn't charge or power on then you may need the "DC Jack" repaired. You can usually have this repaired for less than a $100. try{for(var lastpass_iter=0; lastpass_iter

The Compaq Presario v2000 came in many different releases. Underneath the Laptop, the model number will be displayed, and is usually like v2xxx, where xxx is 3 different numbers.

Find this model number, and then enter on this web site:

Download the drivers for the hardware that is giving you trouble.

Have you tried to use a different browser to rule out IE (that has not been previously installed on PC)? Try Firefox (I prefer IE BTW), and if your internet starts working you know that it's your browser's. Also, you can check to make sure that there are no proxies setup in your IE. Click on Tools > Internet Options > Connection tab > LAN Settings (at the bottom) - once in LAN Settings, uncheck all the boxes.

You may need to re-onstall the driver for the wireless driver. Look in the CDS that came with your PC or if you bought a card look for the CD!
