Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

2 Answers

My Camera will not turn on I have a Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital Elph. About 2 weeks ago, it stopped working and just randomly would not turn on. The strange part is, I had just used it about an hour before it stopped working and it seemed to be just fine. I didn't drop it or damage it in any way, so I don't understand why it just stopped turning on just out of the blue.

I am having the exact same problem

  • emery_loohoo Sep 14, 2008

Well, the camera came with a chargeable battery and I tried charging that and putting it back in there, but still got nothing. No sign that it even recognizes there's a battery in it. I think the problem is that the camera only came with a one year warranty and I've had the camera exactly one year. Coincidence? I think not.

I have the same problem too. One of my friends has a similar camera, and I've tried putting my battery in their camera a couple of times - works perfectly every time, so it's not the battery that's the problem. Their battery doesn't make my camera work either.

Canon PowerShot SD750 ELPH just up and stopped working. It will not power on at all! It worked great the other day and I have not (far as I know) done anyting to it that would stop it from working.

I have tried charging the battery and the lights on the charger went from red to green, like normal. Still nothing. I took out the SD card, nothing. I tried a different SD card, nothing. I checked the battery and SD card connections, both on the battery and in the camera, they seem fine. I tested the "small door switch", it seems to be working correctly.

What else can I do? Is the probelm internal? I'm sure there is no warranty. Help!!!!!

Yep, won't turn on, whatsoever, randomly, out-of-the-blue, after working perfectly minutes before, and no dropping or whatever occurred. Batteries are fully charged, SD cards are totally fine. Something electric is going on and it's a bummer because my local camera shop can't fix a digi.

I have the same problem, but I do think one of the kids got to it since I found it on the floor beneath our dining room table. It worked fine yesterday and today nothing. I did the same thing has the others with making sure the battery was charged, but nothing. I doubt it's still under warranty.

Hi emery,I guess the batteries are drained out in the camera. So just take out the memory card if u r using any.....and then try replacing the batteries.Turn ON the camera only with the batteries in.Check if its working fine.....If yes then use a different card.If no then plz get back to me.

Rest assured, there is most likely nothing wrong with your battery, feel free to test it in another camera if you can, I bet it works just fine.

You say here that it 'randomly would not turn on' I didnt see that in your other post; this brings up a completely different problem!

What could be happening is that your power button (that you push) is not pressing on the button on the board inside the camera properly or that that button (inside the camera that you don't see) is damaged or defective in some way. I would have to open up an SD750 and see what that part is attached to, normally it's on the PCB or it's a part of a ribbon cable that contains all the buttons for the menus etc. and i believe this is the case with the SD750. Last SD I opened up to check that cable I found it was part of the flash assembly of all things... odd design choice but oh well.

If you don't get the camera running yourself, please don't 'take it to the doc' as somebody had suggested, I don't want to see you charged $150 for the repair, and I also would not like to hear from you that you threw it in the trash.

PLEASE never throw your defective digital camera in the trash. At a bare minimum sell it for parts online, or you can try repairing it yourself or have somebody with reasonable prices like us fix it for you.

Anyway... good luck from Darntoothysam com

Have a canon digital elph sd750. Pictures are now blurry.

You could have cracked the lens, damage the focus or a number of other things but the lens and focus are most likely. check your lens for scratches if there is none and no cracks take it to your nearest camera store or buy new good luck!

The part is probably defective and needs to be replaced, or its possible if the camera was dropped it needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in... maybe it's just not making full contact.

If you need the camera repaired, thats what we do, we are a digital camera repair business. Just let us know, we can check it out for you. If you want to buy just the part and try it yourself feel free to contact me and I will see if I can buy just that small piece or not.

Good luck from
