picture is sometimes whitish then back to normal, why?
Problem for Mitsubishi WS-55819 55 in. Rear Projection Television
Picture Bows Horizontally like a Semicircle at the top and bottom.
The picture comes and goes out of a stretched picture. The top and bottom form semi circles. Pointed towards the top and bottom so that the middle gets pushed together and the edges are stretched. I don't know if I am being descriptive enough. I have had the TV for 4 years. I just thought of a good descriptor. It makes the picture look like a horizontal hourglass.
Any help would be appreciated.

- Hi,In addition to my problem stated above with the Samsung HCN4226W, Bow-tie effect (Blue color only). When I run the Perfect Focus, it will do the Green, Red and when it does the Blue it runs and runs at 44 percent and eventually returns to the Menu without any changes. Is this a convergence board problem or IC's and if so, what are the part numbers. Thanks again!

- I have this same problem with my Samsung as well. However, it is only the blue color dipping down to the center of the screen like a large smile. Bow-tie effect? The picture in the center of the screen looks to be fine accept there are shadows and the egde of the bowed blue is bright. Thanks for any help or answers.- SamstungDec 05, 2007

Are they color lines as this is a common problem called a convergence problem.Or are you saying the pic looks good except its in the shape of an hourglass?? if it is it sounds like and old b+ filter problem in the raw b+ curcuit. Now the convergence could be simply the convergence ic's But I wouldnt mess with them unless you really know what your doing as this could cause a burn on the crt's if your not carefull. i will stand by techman's assesment of your problem.
how dare you give him a poor rating.
what the hell you little pukes come to us for advise and when you get an answer you don't like we become the bad guy's .
we have been servicing electronics collectivly over 50 yrs.
that being said you should be singing praises to technicians
that take time to help you on there spare time.
we may not always get it right but we try.
