My Acer T180 has stopped booting up.
Every time I switch it on I get the ACER start screen appears. I fet the option to press DEL to Enter Setup or F12 for Boot Menu, but when I press either button nothing happens. I took it to PC world and they said that the motherboard is faulty which i am not convinced is the root cause. And they wanted to charge me £69.99 so I took back and I am hoping that someone can help.

2. During startup, hold down the "F8" function key
immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering
3. Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot

4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode"
selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the
Acer Aspire keyboard.

The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode"
and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer

TRY TO REUPDATE UR BIOS, U COULD HAVE SUSTAIN SOME INTERNAL DAMAGE FORM THE SURGE. WHEN A COMPUTER BOOTS UP IT READS INTERNAL INSTRUCTION PROGRAM IN THE RANDOM OPERATING MEMORY. THIS FIRMWARE COULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGE AS WELL. IF POSSIBLE TRY BOOTIN FROM A DISK TO SEE IF THE BOOT TIME IS THE SAME WHN THE COMPUTER GETS THE INSTRUCTION FROM ANOTHER SOURCE
I have the same model and had the same problem. Fortunately there is a simple fix - unplug all your USB devices (mouses, printers etc). It should now boot!
Assuming that fixed it, it was trying to boot from a USB drive for some unknown reason. I think it was due to the latest windows XP update. Wierd. Hit F12 next time you reboot and make sure it is booting from hard disk first.
