    Hey,

So, my problem was that my PC was working with the previous setup I'd done, but my roommates mac was not able to connect. Then I followed these instructions and voila, her mac was working, problem solved I thought when I realized my PC could no longer connect. Probably did something stupid then, something that solved that issue before, i reset the firewall settings for my PC and now, no wireless works and pc can't get to router settings even when ethernet cable plugged in.

Sorry for not doing this right, I'm sure the solutions would have worked for some one more savvy.

Please if you can help me futher, I'd really appreciate it

What is difference in wireless routers?

The have different signals, usually either B, G, or N. Those signals provide access to devices of similar signals.

If you have an old wireless router with B or G, it may not even recognize a N product. Usually N routers will pick up B & G product signals.

Security is also a factor. Improvements in security have been made and the newer N model should provide the best protection of your data. Also, speed and distance are factors that change from one manufacturer to another & model to model.

Generall, these days you want a N router with wireless and wired capabilities and they come with many options to review.

Good Luck

I cannot get my westell 6100 modem to accept a n600db belkin router. The lights on the router were bright blue, now they are a dull reddish blue that is hard to see in daylight. I cannot get on the...

Maybe it has something to do with the internet protocol of your service provider. You didn't mention anything about your internet service provider. If you have Verizon DSL and you have a PPPOE internet protocol, you need to contact the technical support team of your service provider because they need to walk you through on how to configure the westell 6100 to bridge mode. I think if you connect a pc directly to the westell 6100 and open up a browser then go to 192.168.1.1, you will be directed to the modem's GUI where you can make the necessary changes on the settings of the modem.

I have Belkin N150 Rouer. My internet is Time warner. It has no connection between the modern and Belkin router. How can I set up Belkin N150 Router to solve this problem?

f the modem light keeps blinking, it means that the router hasn't been configured yet. Also, rarely, it can be an issue with WAN port/modem port on the router or the ethernet cable connecting the modem to router or finally, modem may not be working as its not applicable in this case(as you said).

1.Connect comp.--(gray port) router (yellow port)--modem
2.On the computer, open the router page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of browser

NOTE : IF YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER IS CABLE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS

3.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as Dynamic.->NEXT
4.On the far left column, click on "MAC address" under Internet WAN.
5.Click on clone and apply changes and finally check Internet status
6.If internet status > Not connected, we need to do a network power cycle
7.For this, unplug the power from router, then from modem, then unplug the coaxial cable from cable modem.
8. Wait for 60 sec, then connect the coaxial cable, then connect power to modem, wait for lights on modem to get steady, then finally, plug in the power to router.
Now, you may see proper lights lit on the router.
All my best wishes for a fast internet service through the router.

FOR PPPOE OR DSL CONNECTIONS
1.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as PPPOE ->NEXT
2.ENTER THE USERNAME & PASSWORD PROVIDED BY YOUR IN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
3.CLICK ON APPLY CHANGES

You need to check with your DSL provider. What the router is telling you is that it is not getting a connection with your internet provider. Contact you internet provider, they all have Techical support and they will help you solve the connection problem on their end. It may be in the DSL modem or there may be an outage in your area.

Do your service provider limits number of ip address (10.10.10.10) you can have? if they provide only one, you would need to use a router to share one public ip address. Sometimes it records the network address of your network device (00:00:00:00), and won't give u another ip if the device changed. If you have two routers in your network, turn off the dhcp on the second router, and use LAN ports and do not use the WLAN on the second router. if you want to manage the second router, give it an static ip from the first router. Bad port? Bad cable? Modem => router => PC/IPOD/switch or modem => router => PC/IPOD/Switch/ 2nd Router without dhcp and no WLAN ) Good luck

Do a firmware upgrade on your router to improve the speed and also adjust the MTU size on the router settings to 1400 that will also help in speeding up the connection using the router........

Changed internet companies now router won't work

I'm sorry but I find your post a bit confusing. Do either of the computers get on the internet?
Changing internet providers is something done INSIDE the router. The cables are irrelevant.
