Re: DVD does not play

When i first got DVD players and CD players i didnt believe in cleaners. There are some that polish the lens with a little fine tooth copper brush and after i used one in my car i couldnt believe how well it helps. They dont last very long because they are so fragile but they do work and are a good thing to have.

I have vcr tape wont play in hifi all the time. and dose same thing in every vcr but has no other audio track

The hi-fi sound goes first. There is nothing you can do about it. Unless some special recording techniques were used, you always have a linear sound track too. Try to adjust TRACKING on the remote to hook up to the hi-fi track.

Sony dvd player/recorder want play dvds

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

I have an RCA DVD/VHS combo with TVG. The DVD

This is a work-around rather than a solution. We put an audio CD in the tray and after closing the tray the unit begins to play the music. After waiting a few seconds we open the tray and quickly substitute a DVD and it loads OK. We had also tried cleaning the player to no avail. The CD approach is a pain but it does allow us to play DVDs. Jim

A DVD bought in Australia cannot be played in a samsung htz310i dvd player in the UK

The world has been fenced off into areas by these manufacturers, and you Aus DVD is security locked to Code 4.
The UK has a different Area code, and your Samsung was setup to play only DVD,s sold in Europe.
However a knowledgeable friend with a computer can play another areas disk by changing the area code in the computer.

Hi dennis176,

Unfortunately, I am not aware of this kind of setup. This kind of solution would not be very efficient. For this to work there would need to be an insert to the VCR (similar to that which is used in a cassette player to convert CD audio) attached to a DVD player. Because you would require a device to play the DVD and send the video/audio to the insert (if it existed) it would actually be more efficient to simply connect the DVD player to the television. The reason inserts exist for cassette players is primarily that it prevents replacement of an entire car stereo system. This is not the case with a VCR. You may consider purchasing a DVD/VCR combo if you wish to maintain the ability to play VHS tapes. If you own a TV/VCR combo, your least expensive option would likely be to purchase a separate DVD player.

Thank you,
