MS Optical Mouse 3000

The Microsoft Optical Mouse 3000 quit working. I tried 3 new batteries, and pushed the connect button but nothing has inspired it to come to life. What should I do?

*sigh* I was thinking the same thing. It's about a year old but I guess I can't expect things to last much longer than that these days. ~haloranch1

You may have a bad mouse.

Try the mouse on another computer. Since it's a microsoft product it should install automatically just fine. It'll either work or it won't If it doesn't call Microsoft. The mouse has a warranty and MS will replace it. I was in a similar situation with a MS mouse and they sent me a new device. I did not have to send the bad device in and I got the replacement in a couple of days.

Microsoft wireless mouse 3000; put in new battery, still nothing

nikcorra2488,

try this: plug in the USB key & check for the green light. Then go to start, control panel, & double click mouse (with whatever mouse works). Check the hardware tab and see it the computer is recognizing that the mouse is there. If it is there, it should be working fine. If not, then perhaps you need to reinstall the USB port drivers. Sometimes this will happen when you've upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0 USB ports.

Hope this helps.

Your problem lies only in mouse. All procedures followed are correct, but take a close look at the bottom of mice where the receiver is placed when not in use, look for a tiny thin button that protrudes from one of the sides, it has to be depressed while receiver is out, it might be stuck, try to press it down gently a couple of times, it must come out. If it doesn't work, take off battery, now press down mentioned button and release it immediately upon inserting back the battery. Hope will work ok. Good luck!! Chawah.

Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is not working, reciever??

Your mouse is not sending any signal to receiver. Both items are working.
First look for a tiny thin button that protrudes from one of the sides where the receiver is placed in mouse, it might be stuck, push it gently down a couple of times, it has to be out for as long as the receiver is in the USB port.
If it still doesn't work, take the battery off, while holding down said button insert a new and fresh battery and then simultaneously release the button also considering that the battery terminals are clean. Hope you can solve your problem. Good luck!!! Chawah.

Do you have another device to test the batteries in to be sure they are good? Also verify the batteries are inserted properly - if so, it appears the mouse has just quit working.
