Whao... NEVER force something like that ESPECIALLY around the memory... you know you're supposed to be grounded before touching the RAM, right?... touch the case of a computer (on like the power supply) just before you work on it and as long as the computer was grounded... and turned on... you'll be grounded too... stay off the carpet at this point... try to do it in like a kitchen or something... or you can ruin the RAM... try sliding the cover in all different directions... you may just have to get Acer tech support on the line... I've upgraded Laptop Ram before, but laptops are different... try looking it up on the web... for a manual... I had to use one for an HP...

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO INSTALL EXTRA MEMORY IN MY ACER ASPIRE 5315 LAPTOP HOW DO I REMOVE THE KEYBOARD ETC

The memory is under the laptop. Turn the back, remove the battery, you will see alot of small screws, loose them all one after the other. But if you want to loose the memory, you do not need to remove all the screws, look very well you a cover that has about one or two screws, there you will find the memory. Also you will see a screw under the DVD/CD Drive, you need to loose the screw first before you can remove the drive.

As for the keyboard, after loosing the screws from under, turn the laptop back up, open the flip, try removing the front cover, before you can reach the keyboard. After opening the cover, you need to remove the keyboard flex carefully.

After loosing the screws, you might find it a bit difficult to open the laptop cover, you will need force to open it, but becareful so the nothing will get spoilt or broken.

It's very simple, just make sure all screws are loosed before you try opening.

I wish you the best.

I wish to add more RAM to my laptop but cannot get cover openbehi

The ram is under a base cover and the cover is usually indicated by small rectangles imprinted in the plastic. I will send you the link to the service manual that will show everything you need to know about your laptop.
The ram, wireless card, heat-sink and processor are all under the largest of the panels. The smaller panel is where the hard drive lives and then there is the battery.

Acer won't boot up

Hi,
when any computer posts/boots up.
it goes through a sequence of initialising things before booting.
i,ve been repairing computers for around 12-15 years.
1st i,d try removing the ram ( memory ) usually underneath the laptop, behind a screw cover. Or ocassionally under the keyboard.
if 2 sticks of ram are installed, remove the battery. and 1 stick of Ram. put battery on and try to boot. if no joy with that try the other stick of ram. and replace battery-Re-boot.
If this works you have 1 stick of faulty ram or faulty ram slot on motherboard. Failing this. I suspect that the CPU has overheated, and therefore a replacement Processor should solve the problem.

Thankyou for using fixya.

Ram Memory

I did this 2 days ago on my gf's aspire 5315-2153 (walmart special $348). the underside panel has four tiny screws which must be removed and then the fun begins. The plastic panel is large and doesn't want to be removed. After 20 minutes of cursing, i was able to get it out with two hands and a small screwdriver. The plastic panel has about 7-8 tabs which also hold it in place. The original two memory modules must be removed and the two new ones installed in their place. i bought crucial memory from newegg.com (CT2KIT12864AC667) for $17 delivered (took a week to get) which was much cheaper than buying it direct from crucial.com Save the old memory modules just in case you have a problem with the new ones. After putting them in, I restarted the computer and it booted up fine. No BIOS changes or any of that were necessary. So for $17 and about 30 minutes, this lappy is now running strong with 2gb instead of 1gb. Initial impression is that it boots up faster and shuts down faster but that is about it in terms of improvement!!!

Acer 5315-2713 add memory card

OK, In general for the 5315 series, the memory replacement should be roughly the same.
You seem to have an idea what you're doing, so here's a little specifics:

Here's what you see once you get the giant "thermal door" cover off. To remove the cover, first, remove the four screws. Now carefully slip a thin tool like a table knife under the edge of the cover where the indent is and work around towards the front and back of the laptop.
DON'T pry along the side towards the side of the laptop or you'll break those longer tabs. That's the edge which goes in first when you replace the cover.

The RAM pops out easily by spreading the clips on either side.

I have acer 5315 aspire laptop,i have bought ram for it,want to know how to install

Follow these steps to install memory:
1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove
the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the
memory cover. Looks like this:

2 (a) remove the current memory by spreading the clips in either side of the stick, and gently pull it out (carefull with the clips, as they can easily break)
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press
it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adapter.
6 Turn on the computer.

The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size
