Question about Toshiba MW27H62 27" TV/DVD

2 Answers

DVD My Toshiba combo was about three months old when the DVD player went out. I purchased this unit in May 2006. In setting up controls it was fine except for the sound. I have another Toshiba I also purchased at the same time and it's sound is much better. But my biggest problem is loss of DVD player. I had called Toshiba and they were not useful at all. They recommended a tech who could not fine our house and when he called he said that he was a plummer? Anyway the dvd player when I first use it would show that the disk is being read. After about three months that no longer came up on screen. There was no way to open a menu or screen adjustment. What happens after disk is in unit after about two minuets a "Incorrect" disk appears. I have tried several disk and all result in same display. Is there a independent power supply to the reader of this player? Could a fuse be the problem? I read manual and pulling the plug had no effect on player. Any suggestions welcome.

If you have a bad lens i would suggest you to use a lens cleaner disk for solving this problem.

if that does not help please let me know

but if that does not help you will have to either send the unit for repair.

if the repair estimate is costly its better to go for a new one.

Try using a DVD lens cleaner

Looks like the unit has more than one problem.
Try first using a DVD lens cleaner, like the ones you can buy from here.
This can correct the Incorrect disk problem, if it does not , regarding this problem, the TV must be taken apart and lens pickup must be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and cotton.
when is faulty the DVD power unit, you cannot even put inside or eject disks, it is not the power supply, it is the lens or the firmware.
Regarding the sound, there may be many reasons why sound is bad (wiring, short, broken speaker, bad component on audio pcb etc.).
Let me know your location if you want to find a repair service in your area.

My tv combo toshiba m md-20f52 dont work dvd

Hello
Check the laser pickup unit in the DVD player. You have to open the TV, and take out the DVD mechanism out from it to follow. If the set do not read and play any disc, replace the laser pickup unit with same type and number.
A semi-skilled work indeed. Have to disassemble and reassemble the DVd mechanism. Be care.

Is there a reset button for this tv combo? If so, how is it accessed?

Not to discourage you from repairing this TV. In almost all cases, these TV combos are extremely difficult to repair. Even when these were new, if they had problems you will not get a long lasting repair.I would suggest you find another TV. Please refrain from purchasing any combo sets. Your best bet is to purchase a TV and DVD or VCR player as separate units. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I HAVE A OLDER (2005) TOSHIBA MW24FP3 DVD/VCR/TV COMBO UNIT. THE DVD PLAYER IS STARTING TO RUN OUT OF GAS, SKIPPING, SHUTTLE PROBLEMS ETC. CAN IT ACCEPT AN EXTERNAL DVD PLAYER THROUGH THE FRONT CHASIS...

Absolutely you better bet it can, just hook up the cables to the front and select the input on your tv and you should be ok. For the internal DVD try running a cleaning disk you never know it could be just dirty.
Thanks if you like my advice and solutions please use the thumbs above to rate it and give me some feedback as well.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Toshiba TV Combo MW24FP1, DVD player doesn't work on some discs

This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.

Universal remote codes

NOT A SOLUTION, however my remote stopped working a couple months ago. I subsequently tried several universal remotes - none of these worked. An educated guess might be that the problem is NOT with the remote control unit, but rather something inside the set itself. This might also explain why the MW24FM1 you bought "didn't come with a remote".
