Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Zenith SEq Stereo TV was purchased in 1993. The picture is only 4-5 inches in height and black at the top & bottom. Is this fixable?

Yes it is fixable. There are one or more bad caps in the vertical circuit. If you would post the model number listed o the back of the set, I should be able to give you more details.
Thanks,
Dan

I got a Zenith Z56DC1D the bulb was replaced and its clean. I have blurry picture and it seems out of alignment there is a large black stripe on bottom and the top of the picture is cut off. How do I fix...

Without seeing a photo it sounds like the picture is letterbox with top and bottom black areas---if not that it sounds like a possible issue with the optical light engine the set uses to project the image on to the screen----most of this is not customer repairable.

Well - Good news - This is a convergence issue. Some how the Red's CRT's image has drifted off of where it should be of overlaying itself on top of the green and blue 'which make yellow by the way'.
If you contact a Zenith/LG Service center they may have a TV Tech that can come out and fix this issue. May be between $100 to $200 charge. Just guessing but this is fixable.

Same issue here with this TV. Started when I hit auto converge

If your watching a standard resolution(4:3) picture in wide screen format (16:9). than the picture will be stretched and the tops and bottoms cropped. look in your video or set up menu to change the resolution settings to standard 4:3

1 inch lines on top and bottom of screen

Is the picture overall too small by 1 in. on top and bottom? Or is it cut off by the lines?

If it's too small, look for an adjustment labeled Vertical Height. This may only be accessible internally, it's normally a service adjustment, not a user adjustment.

Your problem is a vertical deflection issue, either an adjustment or the vertical circuit requires repair by a technician. In the latter case, electrolytic capacitors are a likely cause.
