Duct Cleaning Can Be a Messy Job Or it Can Be Made Very Simple

There are many companies that advertise air duct cleaning as a way to make the air in your home cleaner and healthier. While that is a good thing, there is a better way to improve the air quality of your home. With the installation of a UV light based air cleaner your can keep the ducts of your home clean and free of the many bad things that like to grow in your air ducts.
Many people today are becoming concerned about the air ducts in their home. These are the passages that the air flows through to heat or cool their homes. They can become a breeding ground for numerous molds, bacteria, and virus. With the addition of a very simple appliance you can eliminate much of the danger that could come from your ductwork.
Ultraviolet Light has been used for years to help to kill bad bacteria and sanitize equipment. Water treatment facilities use UV to treat the water before it is released into streams. In homes with wells that are contaminated, water can be treated by passing by a UV light. This type of light is very effective at killing micro-organisms quickly and efficiently. Some of these systems are even effective at getting rid of hard to kill things such as SARS and the Swine Flu virus.
Now it is very easy to install an Ultraviolet Light in your air ducts to kill the many bad bugs that like to live in there. It is a simple as cutting a hole in your ductwork, mounting the unit to the side of the duct and plugging it in to an ordinary outlet.
While a physical cleaning or your air ducts may be a good idea it can be very expensive, dirty, and time consuming. Also to do this means that the ducts must be cut into in many places and sealing them up again permanently is a problem. With this type of unit your ducts will self clean over time. I have seen many ducts that slowly clean them selves after the installation of a UV unit. It will not dissolve big hard items in your duct but it does tend to dissolve small dust particles and make your duct look cleaner.
The main result of installing a UV unit in your HVAC system is that you will be breathing air that is free of the bad stuff that can cause health problems. Even if you choose to have your duct vacuumed and cleaned also consider the installation of a UV system to keep your ducts clean and sanitized.
Clean sanitary ductwork will give you and your family the healthiest, freshest air to breath possible.

How do i remove the uv bulb

Place your finger in the door recess on the right-hand side of the sanitizer and pull open the door.

Remove the drip tray.

Remove the protective screen by gently lifting it up and pulling it forward.

To remove the UV light bulb, pull it out of the lamp holder.

Install the UV light bulb by snapping it into the lamp holder.

Align the pegs on the protective screen with the slots in the reflective surface of the sanitizer on either side of the UV light bulb.

Insert and gently push down the screen to secure it in the sanitizer.

Reattach the drip tray.

Can you clean the clear tube that seperates the UV bulb from the water in a Tetra Green 2 UV?

A test tube brush or a small bottle brush will fit and not damage anything. Alternatively as long as it is not used for saltwater soak in a bucket of 5 gallons water and a 1/2 cup of bleach will kill and separate any algae. Just rinse thoroughly to flush out any leftovers and to clear the unit.

The screen is turning blue. what is the problem? I just had the bulb replaced a couple of months ago.

Your Optical Block is failing. It needs to be replaced in order to fix this. The details of the mater, if you are interest: The Mercury vapor lamp used in the TV emits UV light. UV light has a short wave length and is therefore positioned on the violet side of the spectrum. Blue, being the closest of the 3 colors (red, green, blue) in wave length, deteriorates faster due to UV damage. UV light damages most things, it is unavoidable. If the UV light was trimmed out by filtration, your picture would be far to dark to view. So, it must remain at some level... even if in time it will destroy the LCD panels (which it does... in every rear projection LCD TV which uses a Mercury Vapor lamp.) As for the fresh lamp... this is common. Your lamp is back up to full UV power and your picture is bright. You can now see the damage progressing more quickly. I hope this was helpful or at least explained the "how and why" for you, best wishes.
