Question about Sanyo DS24424 24" TV
The old ticking sound... yes.. it means your power supply shut down and continously trys to reboot ... hense the tick sound as the voltage rises and fails.
Means you got a short somewhere. Most likely the obvious high power consuming High Voltage Suppy... and as I found in 99.9 percent the Horizontal power Transistor shorted... 80 percent Flyback, 10 percent audio... 10 percent some odd circuits like vertical or yoke as shorted.
you have a short.

I saw this problem and I initially replaced the shorted TT2168 Horizontal output transistor with a 2SD2539 part. It has twice the ratings and would hold up better. On power up, that blew as well.
Obviously the flyback transformer had to be bad so I again replaced the 2SD2539 and the flyback.
I would reccomend this approach since the TT2168 is marginally holding this load. Unfortunately, it did not work for me because of the bad flyback. Sanyo's seem to have a reputation in my area for flyback failures.
