No fill - drain pump running - I assume stuck float switch

Where do I find the (probably stuck) float switch on a bosch dishwasher SHC43C02 FROM 2004?

Does the machine has to be removed from underneath the countertop to access the switch?

Thanks a bunch for your help!

Remove the bottom plate of the dishwasher and the bottom pan is revealed. reason the drain pump is running will be that this pan has water in it ie you have a leak. mop out the water and dishwasher will work - switch off mains when you do this

Bosch dishwasher had debris stopping drain pump impeller. debris removed, now drain pump won't initiate without holding float up.

Is the float intact? Sounds like it got swamped. Try floating it with thin piece of styrofoam underneath. Run one fill cycle. If that works, replace float or repair it.

Bosch Dishwasher won't fill with water

Certainly *sounds* like the float is stuck in the over filled position
or possible a bad float switch, if the float is stuck in the up or full position, the d/w will not fill with water and the drain motor will often run all the time

Bosch SGS5332GB dishwasher. drain pump runs all the time

There is a float under the machine that tells the pump to shut off. If the float is stuck or bad, the machine will keep draining. I am including a web site that might help. Bosch Dishwasher That Will Not Stop Draining Hunker

Will not fill. Drain pump runs all the time.

Sounds like flood switch has been activated. They have a float in the base of machine, which will activate drain pump if a leak has occurred. Unplug from power- remove right hand side panel, check to see if any water in base. If so, leak has occurred. Clear water from base and test run to locate leak

Not filling

check the base of the dishwasher for water. remove the toe kick at the bottem and soak up the water down there. its probably activating the float switch. im assuming you had a drain problem with the sink? so the dishwasher couldnt properly drain.

Bosch SHU43C Dishwasher

Is there no water coming in( hear no water at all) or no water NOT staying in ( drain motor running) ... the float switch is a safety to keep the dishwasher from flooding ...turns on the drain motor as soon as the door is closed..

I could check the control and see if you have power to the water valve.. maybe a control problem if no power..

Wont drain!!!

Check first the drain lines and the drain pump.

If the drain pump is working, and there is no problem in there, then the problem is usually because the water level switch activated by the floating sensor is stuck.

You probably need to have the water level switch replaced.

You can find parts on websites below:

Will not shut off at end of the drain cycle

there should be a float behind the fill valve with a magnet in it which operates a reed switch. This switch keeps the pump running as long as the base has water in it or if the float is stuck on the up side (and makes the pump "think" that there's water in the base). Check this float to see if it's stuck and release it so it could tell the pump when to stop draining. Hope this solves your problem.
