What have a red image in the middle of our plasma tv what could it be and can we get rid of it

I am no expert but I believe this happens when the gas in those cells or pixels dies and nothing can be done,especially if an older model as they have only so many hours of life for a plasma tv.

Usually the Z-sustain board takes care of that problem, however, I would have a svc center take care of that issue. Not to bad on $ to repair.

This problem (known as sparkles) can be cured by adjusting the ramp control on the Y-Sustain board. If this does not cure the dots then there is a software remedy for the control board which an LG repair centre could fix. Failing that a replacement board is required. The orbitor & whitewash are like screen savers to help to prevent a screen burn from a permanently displayed image.

I had the same problem -red, vertical bars along the right side of my Samsung 42" Plasma- and this is what fixed it: Removed unterminated cable.
I had hooked up an HD video camera to the set about two weeks ago. While I disconnected the camera I left the other end of the connector cable plugged into the T.V.. As I've since learned from friends who work in television, this is what's called an "unterminated cable" -meaning one end is unconnected. It can lead to problems with electrical interference and appears to have been the problem in this case; When I disconnected this cable from the T.V. the red bars went away.
So, check your cables. Make sure everything is properly connected and get rid of anything that might be picking up interference.

is this a plasma or a dlp tv? if is a dlp a have bad news for you get rid of the tv, if is a plasma then is something different, post the model # anyway to see if we can help you.

You most likely have image burn in on the display if it is not in a straight line. If it is in a straight line than it can be dead pixels. It is most likely the first issue I saw this same issue at work with an HP plasma TV.

I was told this was a ramp voltage setting and any tv engineer can fix it quickly.

do they look like pixie dust...or sparkly?....if so I can give you a procedure to get rid of that
