My Fuji Finepix s5600 camera started displaying "card error" when I tried to take a pictures. I entered the Fine Pix Viewer, clicked on the DCIM folder, and then when I clicked on the 100_Fuji folder, the Fine Pix Viewer showed a "Not Responding" message. The same thing has happened several times. Is there anything I can do in this situation. Thank you for your time and your help.

Try to use you camera to format the card maybe it will be get better, else you can use a card reader to read the card and see if it's all right, or you can try to use the card with other cameras and see if it's OK. It seems your card you have used well for some time, so it won't be the wrong card type. Else you have to check if the card is one of the types which your camera support

My fine pics camera is not uploading the pictures to my pc. It's saying connect camera and turn power on. Can you please tell me what the problem is

I think you are missing a step or pushing the wrong power button.

The sequence should go like this first make sure the batteries are up to power if there is an interruption the pictures could become lost and corrupt the memory card.

Turn the camera off, connect the USB cable to the computer USB port not a hub or keyboard port.

to turn the camera on Fine Pix Viewer will start and the save Image Wizard will display follow on screen instructions to download pictures.

To disconnect make sure the indicator lamp is off then press the same button for about a second to shut the camera off THEN disconnect the camera from the computer.
You should then format the memory card to begin fresh with a clean card and allow the camera and memory card to properly communicate between each other without errors.
Here is a diagram to show you were and how to format the card.

'Card full' with no pix??

First make sure that the camera is able to recognise the card and is not defaulting to the internal memory only. Power off the Camera, then remove the additional card. Power on the camera, then power off the camera. Put the memory card back in the camera and then reformat it before using it. Fuji and other digital cameras do not like being used with memory expansions if they are not reformatted every time the pictures have filled the memory card or you choose to download them. Its like the memory is still allocated to something even though you cant see it. So a good practice is to reformat after every download. If the problem persists then try another card and if this still gives an error then you will have to get the camera serviced.

Communication error

Sounds like you have corrupted or possibly deleted a Fine Pix Viewer driver software file.

Suggest you uninstall and reinstall Fine Pix Viewer.

Before you start you might want to create a backup folder on your C drive and put copies of all your photo files therein. Make sure your camera is not connected to your PC before reinstalling software.

Assuming Windows operating system click : Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Software, then scroll to Fine Pix applications. You will probably have three to choose from. Since you don't know where the problem lies suggest you start with Fine Pix Viewer which will probably have a version such as 5.5 (in my computer anyway). Having highlighted this file click on the uninstall button.

Now reinstall from your Fine Pix CD.

Suggest you reboot so new software will recognise your camera when it is connected. With camera connected Windows will probably advise that there is new hardware and it is seeking software. Give it time and Viewer should boot up on your screen.

Write error

I have a brand new fuji finepix 1000fd and was having the same problem (tried two different cards). I contacted Fuji service and they said only Sandisk and Fujifilm SD cards are guaranteed to work. I bought a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB card ($20 at Office Depot) and after 20 pictures I haven't had an error.... yet.

Hope this helps.
