Re: magnavox 20MS233S

Has it been moved latley? try to unplug it over night then try it. Sometimes they need to be reset. Some tvs go threw a test phase and need to do it a few times. If it has taken a fall it could be damaged or somthing may have come unplugged internaly. It may have over heated is it free from dust? electronics attract dust like a magnet. Is there any signs of somthing spilled on it? water damage?

10-year-old 32" RCA PIP TV just blinked off one morning after about 30 minutes. It makes a continuous high pitch sound, and the on/off switch is completely unresponsive. I assume this is a picture tube and...

It's not the picture tube(especially if image was good b4 it went dead). The high pitch noise is the power supply whinning because it's shorted or overloaded. I just fixed one of these sets - replaced the horiz. o/p transistor and flyback estimate around $120.00-$160.00

27 inch tube tv won't stay on

You have a problem is in your horizontal section which also is part of your power supply. The high pitched whine is from the Intergrated High voltage transformer (also called the flyback transformer). This sound occurs when the freuency of the transformer changes and or the voltage gets too high. The click occurs as a result of the drawing of excessive current by the HOT Horizontal output transistor. This is repairable, but requires the correct equipment and a schematic.

TV won't turn on, makes high-pitched clicking noise

Its a real good chance that the HOT (horizontal output tranistor) transistor is shorted if so the flyback trasformer may be bad also. the transformer will make a tick tick sound if it is trying to start.

No sound/picture

The set is what we call squealing because the power supply is sensing a problem and is screaming for help but that could be a good sound for a technician to find the problem fast and correct it inexpensebly.Keep it unplug to prevent more damage.
