It sounds like malware. Run a virus scan and a spyware scan.

How do you disable recovery commander for windows 7? We went to msconfig and hid all ms services, but Recovery commander is not on the list. where would I find it?

If you have Fix It the solution appears to be run Fix it, at the top select 'settings' then on the left 'recovery', then 'recovery commander' on lower top toolbar. Uncheck 'Detect when a set up program is launched....' and that should cure it. Find Fixit here:

Can't remove Recovery Commander on VISTA notebook. Does not appear in control panel add/remove programs list. No listing for Vcoomm. No listing under Avanquest. Thanks, Microweb

There is an application called Revo Uninstaller (Freeware). Install it on your PC and then uninstall recovery commander.
Hope this helps.

Every time I attempt to load a new program-Recovery commander starts and I can not load a new program. Deleted program-problem still exists

Try setting your computer back to when it was working correctly. To do this do the following:
Go to start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Restore
Click Next
Follow the prompts and choose a date from the list when you know your computer was working correctly
This should work for you, let me know if you need further assistance
Please leave rating/feedback if you found this helpful, thanks!

Recovery Commander Starts always and annoys me.

This problem usually happens, ehen you do not do the Shut Down process properly.
Close or save( if modified ) the document or spreadsheet. Then close the program before you shutdown the computer going through the Shutdown command instead of the OFF Switch.Hope this will solve your problem.

Removing the program

I have the same problem but have tied mine down to Fix It Utilities which were downloaded. If you have Fix It the solution appears to be run Fix it, at the top select 'settings' then on the left 'recovery', then 'recovery commander' on lower top toolbar. Uncheck 'Detect when a set up program is launched....' and that should cure it.
