Question about HP Deskjet 5440 InkJet Photo Printer

"service this device" service

I want to run the service this device feature for my printer. i hit it and "The application can not be started. Try reinstalling the printer driver." reinstalled the driver from the CD, no difference. installed an updated driver i found on the HP website, no difference.

what am i to do?

The feature isn't a driver it's a program. In Add/Remove, remove the HP printer stuff, then reinstall everything from scratch. Let it install everything.

Scanning problem


Try if the Scan feature from the application software is working. In case the scan is working from the application, it is not a problem with printer.
Alternately, you can try the same from system tray (or in device manager >> Printer)
In case the any of the above fails, uninstall and reinstall the printer

When i go to print it saids print spooler not running


what OS are you running? for Windows, right click on My Computer, click on Manage. Under "Services and Applications, choose Services. Find the Print Spooler service, right click on it, and click "start"

Hello Mr.Johnson !

You can start a scan from a computer or from the control panel.

To use the scan features, your device and computer must be connected and turned
on. The printer software must also be installed and running on your computer prior to
scanning. To verify that the printer software is running on a computer running
Windows, look for the device icon in the system tray at the lower-right side of the
screen, near the clock. To verify this on a computer using the Mac OS, open the HP
Device Manager, and click Scan Picture. If a scanner is available, it will launch the HP
ScanPro application. If it is not available, a message appears to let you know that a
scanner was not found

Spooler not running. Cannot delete last print job. Won't let me print other jobs.


Which OS you are running? If windows xp and upwards: Print spooling service might have been disabled (or not enabled yet) Solution: Start -> Run In the box type services.msc and hit enter Scroll until you see print spooler. Check whether it has been disabled. Enable it. Start the service (you must have administrative privilege) If its not the case: Start -> Run Type Eventvwr.msc and hit enter Check System for errors (system) related to spooler service. Check Application for application related errors. If you see some please list here. So we can proceed from their.

I had a problem with my dell all-in-one photo 924 printer. I decided to delete the Dell AIO 924 driver to fix the problems with printing the docs by getting error message, ? communication not available?...


The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

Print Spooler Service is not running error message


You need to start/enable the print spooler service.

Goto Start > Run and type "msconfig" then hit enter

Under the General tab, check "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services",
click "apply" and reboot.


If you still get the error
Start > Run", typing in "services.msc", then hit enter
scroll down to print spooller and make sure it's enable "started" and runs automaticaly

CAN'T INSTALL LEXMARKx6100 SERIES SOFTWARE:


In this case what i would request you to do is............. Click on Start/Run then type in Service.Msc and hit ok........... Now on that Window you will see a List of Programmes on that list find LEXBCES........... Just Double Click on that and the Start Type will be Disabled just change it to Automatic and click on start and start that service.............. Now try to Install the Printer it will work fine............ Good Luck

Lexmark x5250 printer software still not working.


Ok,

I think I have it.

Go to Lexmark Support.

In the "Search by Model" box enter x5250. When the model pops up, click it.

In the "Search the KnowledgeBase" box enter "searching for scanning applications". Click "Search".

You will get 2 choices. Click the bottom one, "How to Add a Scanning Application to the All-In-One Center".

Follow the instructions given.

Hi

Please try the following steps to resolve the problem:

*********************************Step 1************************************

1.Right click on Computer ->Properties->Device manager.

2.You will get Device manager window popping out.

3.Scroll down to "Universal Serial BUS controllers".Click on the (+)

sign.

4.Check for the "USB Composite Device" and right click on it, click

Uninstall.(IMPORTANT NOTE:WE HAVE TO UNINSTALL THE PRINTER'S USB

COMPOSITE DEVICE, TO KNOW WHETHER IS THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE

DEVICE, RIGHT CLICK ON USB COMPOSITE DEVICE AND PROPERTIES,look for

wat location says, (Eg -LOCATION : HP DESKJET F2100)

5.Disconnect the USB and reboot the PC.

6.Connect the USB after reboot, you will get popup "Found new

hardware".Then the Drivers will be installed Automatically.

(If this doesn't works go for step2)

*********************************Step 2:*********************************

1.Click start - > in start search then type "twain_32" click OK.

2.A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders.

3.Click start - >start search then type "services.msc" click OK.

4.Look for service called "HPZ PML Driver", Doubled click on it, check whether the "startup type" is "Automatic", if not changed it to automatic.Checked the "Service status" is "started".If not click on "start" button.Click Apply and OK.

5.Right click on "HPZ PML Driver" and click "Restart".Close the window.Click start - >run then type "%temp%" click OK.A window will open and click EDIT menu-> select all, then delete all the files and folders.If u cant delete them its ok, just close the window and go to step 6.

6.Disconnect the Printer USB cable, Insert the installation disk of your printer.If Installation wizard pops up, click on cancel/exit.

7.open Computer, right click on your CD/DVD ROM Drive , then click "open".Look for folder called "UTIL" then look for folder called "CCC".There you will see a file that says "Uninstall_2". Double click on that file.

8.A run box will poppup, click OK, now you will see the command windows, hit enter the Driver that is necessary for comunication which are corrupted will be removed.

9.After that, restart the PC and Insert the Disk and install the printer.Connect the Printer USB only if the PC prompts you to connect.After installaton completes, check the scanner.

(if this doesn't works go to step3)

*********************************Step 3:*********************************

Using the CD, uninstall the printer or you can also uninstall using the Programs and features.Then Reinstall.
(Note: During uninstallation USB must be disconnected)
