The battery has outlived it's charging cycle and can no longer be used.  Replacement batteries can be obtained at, Radio Shack, Batteries Plus, or EBay (I've been ripped off a few times buying them that way though).  Batteries Plus usually has good prices on them.

Dell inspiron 1501 cannot indentify ac adapter

try this first. drain the flea power. remove batter and ac adapter. press and hold on the power button for 10 seconds. plug back ac adapter and battery. go online to then download the latest bios update.

once you reach the dell support site select on support for home users. then drivers and downloads. enter the service tag.

when the list of drivers and updates are listed make sure you selected the correct operating system. look for the BIOS then download it via browser. (do not download the manager)

after the download run or install the update.

If all fails. try a diff ac adapter if same problem message appears then replace the motherboard. else replace ac adapter.

Hi my hp g600 wont switch on,there is power to it but the power button lights up then goes straight back out

well it seems there's some kinda battery problem inside ur laptop's hood..
I'll suggest u to open the back cabniet & open the battery slot.. Clean the connecting Ends, of both (Battery + Battery Slot)
Now try to start it..
If it doesn't then it seems ur adapter's runnin out of power, so i'll suggest u to get a new adapter or try urs in some other's lap..
If the above mentioned solution doesn't works, then m damn sure, that there's kinda problem with ur BIOS i.e. CMOS Battery..
U cant replace it on ur own, but go to a computer vendor & ask them to fix ur BIOS..
Hope this works u out.. if not, feel free to ask again

If u like my post, please rate me up, I really need some good ratings..
Thanks !!!

Bios password

Bios password can only be reset by removing the c-mos battery....A c-mos battery is a small battery in motherboard, remove it and then replace it again..dat will reset ur bios password..

Battery not charging

Does the battery accept a charge from the another laptop ?, the only way you will know if this is happening is to run the battery down till it warns the laptop it is failing and them plug it into the other machine

If the battery re-charges then it is fine, if not you need to replace it

If your machine works with the AC but the battery stays flat then you have a fault on the onboard circuit that trickle charges the battery and you need a techie

Thanks again...

Sometimes, the battery alarm is set to high or off and it will automatically warn you when the battery is at a certain percentage. Most newer laptops will even warn you when the battery is going bad.

The AC cord is both the power cord and it will also charge the battery when plugged in as well.

So, it's safe to run on just battery as it may just be telling you that it doesn't have AC power and that you're running only on the battery. My Satellite laptop is setup to warn you when it's only on battery power as well.

Is it safe?

It's safe to use with the battery that way. Do you have a power cord for it?
