The code or passkey should be shown in the router settings, but if not download and install this programme called SIW, it's free and when installed, on the left is a section called 'secrets'

The programme is 2nd on the left list (SIW standalone english only)

Click this and all passwords used for anything including your router will be shown.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How can I lock my router to other users

This change is different for each brand of router. Go to the manufacturers website and download a manual for your router. The key is to navigate your web browser to the router and make the changes you need. Usually, you can use a wizard from the manufacturer, but here are the highlights of what I set each time:

Wireless Router

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

Is the wireless card "ENABLED" in your computer if it is I think you should connect a cable to the computer/router and log in to the router to see if something has changed in the setup for the wireless settings.

How can I configure my linksys wireless G router?

for exact directions, go to the website of the manufacturer. You can get directions for free. Some models have a wizard that helps you rin through this stuff, but there are a hand full of items that you want to change, I enclose a checklist below. The key is to SAVE any changes right away, one at a time, leave the page and changes are deleted...SAVE.

I have a Belkin G Wireless Router and all of a sudden the wireless internet has stopped working. i have restored default settings to the router. the internet for the computer is working through the router...

Probably you have to turn on the wirelss portion. Go to Belkin and download a manual for the exact steps.

You need to navigate your web browser to the router, log in and make changes. I have included the highlights that need to be set, below.

I am installing an HP wireless printer and I do not know my security key or passphrase.I have a Belkin N Wireless router serial # 12822823312400, PIN Code 51219420. Can you help? Ron Huffaker

They were set when the router was first installed. If you have lost them then reset the router and it will return to the default ones: the user is - admin - , no login password and no security key. You must set them all again and this time put them on a label and attach it to the bottom of the router

Need to secure my wireless router. do not know how?

Go to your wireless router software and click on the security setting section. Create a WEP key by providing a secret code or password that restricts access to the network. (to get access type http://192.168.0.1) Step2Be sure to choose a key with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. These types of codes are the most difficult to break. Step3Click on the wireless connections options on your wireless router software. Find your router from the list of found servers and click on security settings. Step4Add the WEP key that you used on the main router settings to the wireless device. A lock symbol should now appear next to the name of your wireless router from the list of available routers. Step5Access the Internet via your router using only devices that have the WEP installed in their wireless settings. Without it, they will not be able to complete the connections to the network. This information must be added to all wireless devices that you plan to access via the router.

Wireless Interferences
Neighboring wireless networks or any appliance that operates on the same frequency as your wireless device (e.g. 2.4 GHz) may cause interference and therefore may affect your wireless connection and signal.
Common sources of interference are:
  • Neighboring wireless networks
  • Microwave ovens
  • 2.4 GHz cordless telephones
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Wireless baby monitors
To solve the problem, change the channel and SSID on your Access Point. Preferred channels to use are 1, 6 and 11 since they’re considered non-overlapping channels.
